Its been a really long time since I’ve tried a fragrance from Avon, so I haven’t tried any of Fergie’s and didn’t really know what to expect from their newest collaboration, Outspoken Party! With notes of peony, raspberry and crème brûlée, I thought it would be much too sweet for me but I was pleasantly surprised by how subtle the sweetness is.
The scent doesn’t go on too strong and doesn’t fade too quickly, though it doesn’t last all day. It’s a great scent for fall that works either day or night, though the name suggests it’s a nighttime scent. I like Outspoken Party! enough that I’m curious about Fergie’s other fragrances.
For breast cancer awareness month, Avon is donating $5 from each Outspoken Party! purchase to their Avon Foundation For Women organization.
I have always been aware of Estée Lauder fragrances. My mother has worn Beautiful for as long as I can remember, my friends wore Happy and Pleasures when I was in high school but I’ve never been able to find one that I really loved. I got Modern Muse Chic as a gift and I like it but I don’t reach for it that often. The second I smelled Modern Muse Le Rouge, I knew this was my Estée Lauder perfume.
Since the main notes of Modern Muse Le Rouge are rose based, I should’ve known I’d like it but the added scents of vanilla and raspberry keep it from being too ‘rosy.’ It goes on a little strong at first but mellows out pretty quickly and leaves you with a soft, warm scent perfect for fall. Because it’s an Eau De Parfum the scent lasts almost all day and even when it fades, it doesn’t go away completely but it’s not overpowering.
It might have taken me years, but I’m thrilled that I finally found an Estée Lauder fragrance that I completely love.
Lighten up your fall with these four new Flower Body Mists that I have been obsessed with for the past few weeks. These are all based on the perfumes in Drew Barrymore’s Flower line. There is a scent for every personality and a personality for every scent.
Cherished is the soft and powdery scent of the bunch. I get a lot of soothing vanilla from this fragrance. I would want to wear it when I want something girly, but light too.
Sparkling Garden really has that light outdoorsy smell to it. It’s very fresh and airy. There’s a very light woodiness to it, without being at all musky. It has a citrus tone too that is lingering there. It is actually my least favourite of the bunch.
Radiant smells like the most classic perfume to me. It has a lively and vibrant floral smell. This is the one that almost everyone will agree upon. It doesn’t go too much in any direction and is good for any occasion.
Finally there is my favourite Sultry. This one has an exotic and mysterious scent to it that I found out was a mix of Jasmine, Patchouli and Plum. It just smells sexy. Something about it makes me always want more.
Since these are body sprays, they leave a nice lingering scent that doesn’t last forever, but is just enough. I like that it’s under $10, so you can get the scent without any commitment. These would be perfect for people who don’t wear a lot of perfume, but still want to smell nice. They are all fun and fresh and, of course, floral.
I adore the scent of citrus in the actual fruit but I always find it doesn’t quite smell the same when it’s in a fragrance, I always find they smell a little off and fake. L’Occitane’s new Citrus Verbena collection is the citrus scent I’ve been waiting for. It smells like lemons and grapefruits were mixed with verbena and just became the most delicious summer scent. There are ten products in the collection, everything from perfume, to hair products to deodorant, so you can literally soak in Citrus Verbena from head to toe. We received two products to try, the Fresh Body Milk and Fresh Shampoo.
Citrus Verbena Fresh Shampoo
The first time I used this shampoo was in the middle of a heatwave and it was just so refreshing and really made my head cool off. I don’t use a ton of shampoo to begin with, maybe an amount the size of a quarter but this one lathers so well I need even less. And while I didn’t have the matching conditioner, it left my hair feeling clean but almost hydrated enough that I was considering not using one at all. It also gave my hair a lot more shine than most products do.
Citrus Verbena Fresh Body Milk
I really can’t express how much I love the scent of the Citrus Verbena collection and it’s this body milk that originally sold me on it. The second I opened the bottle I knew I was going to be using this product a lot, regardless of how well it worked. Luckily it’s L’Occitane so the quality more than lived up to my expectations. The milk is extremely light and just melts into your skin without leaving you with that sticky feeling you can get from body milks and it really cools your skin down. My skin was hydrated and smelled amazing for hours after I applied it.
I knew from the first sniff that I was going to be buying other products from the collection. I already bought two of them and I have a feeling there’s going to be more in my future. I didn’t already have a favourite scent from L’Occitane but I definitely have one now.
If I’m getting a girly summer drink it’s probably going to be a Mojito and if you add in my love of lime and mint, The Body Shop’s Virgin Mojito line is right up my alley. With most summer collections smelling of coconut, this line is literally a refreshing change. We got to try three products out of the five in the collection and while I’d have liked to try the shower gel (I’ll be heading to a store to get one soon), I’m pretty happy with what I tried.
Virgin Mojito Body Scrub
I haven’t used a scrub from the Body Shop before and I was pleasantly surprised at how gentle yet effective it was. While you don’t get heavy duty exfoliation, you do get to use it more often because it doesn’t scrub your skin away. My sensitive skin isn’t a fan of harsher sugar scrubs so this one is perfect for me.
Virgin Mojito Body Splash
This is in fact, a splash. I wish it was a spray but the hole in the top of the bottle is small enough that you can get some scent on you without making a huge mess. It doesn’t last quite as long as I’d like but the scent is to die for. The combination of mint and lime and what smells like a hint of verbena is so refreshing for summer.
Virgin Mojito Body Butter
This body butter is so thick that it’s almost a solid and yet it absorbed into my skin really quickly and didn’t leave me greasy. My biggest complain with Body Shop body butters is that the scent doesn’t last long enough. That’s not the case with this one, the scent lasts for hours so I have moisturized skin that smells good all day.
I wish this line wasn’t limited edition because it’s definitely one of my summer obsessions. I have a feeling I’ll be stocking up because I know I’ll want more of these when they’re gone.
One of the things I love about L’Occitane is their commitment to fragrance collections. I love layering the same scent and it drives me crazy when I can’t find products that compliment each other. L’Occitane’s recently released Peony collection is pretty big, with over ten different pieces and four versions of Pivoine Sublime.
Pivoine Flora Eau De Toilette
I don’t think I ever put much thought into what peonies smell like and if I like them in perfume but Pivoine Flora is a really great scent for summer. It’s light, floral and sweet but not cloying. It’s not the longest lasting scent but it stuck around for roughly four hours in really humid weather before I stopped noticing it. The bottle itself is so pretty to look at and the scent matches.
Pivoine Sublime in Rose Nude
Pivoine Sublime looks and almost feels like Fresh’s lip treatments but there are quite a few differences. Yes, it’s the same metal tube and yes, it’s a really soft lip balm that I have a feeling will be on the melty side during the summer but it has peony extract and a light floral scent. Rose Nude is perfect if you want something subtle but not invisible, it just leaves a hint of rose on my lips and moisturizes for hours. It also has SPF 25 which I feel like more products need. There are four shades to pick from and all of them are gorgeous.
After trying these out, I guess I like peony more than I thought and I definitely love that this collection is perfect for summer.
While looking for a new light spring fragrance, we found two new fragrances from Yves Rocher. Inspired by very different natural scents, Yves Rocher is lightening up the season. See what we thought about each:
I started with the Green Tea Eau De Toilette. This light green fragrance is inspired by the fresh growing tea leaves of Asia. I’m not sure what I expected from this scent, but this definitely wasn’t it. It has an outdoorsy and natural smell. It has a bit of a plant smell. It kind of reminds me of grass, real fresh cut grass. The plant smell fades slightly after a few minutes. It becomes much more subtle and airy. It is the kind of smell that you won’t instantly notice. It lingers softly. It also comes in a shower gel and body lotion, but I prefer the smell in fragrance form, it’s lighter.
Next, I tried the new Bleu Vegetal Eau de Toilette. This summer 2015 fragrance has a summer floral scent. It starts off a bit alcohol heavy when you spray it. I was quite surprised at the alcohol tinge and how long it took to reveal it’s true scent underneath. It’s an exotic floral smell that is unlike most other floral fragrances. It’s bright and light all at the same time. It’s floral and interesting and honestly, extremely hard to put into words. It’s so unique.
Both of these fragrances are very unique, but if I had to chose just one it would likely be the Bleu Vegetal perfume. It’s got that something different that you will never find in another fragrance.
I really like a lighter scent for spring and summer, so I was really happy to try Ageless from Harvey Prince since it’s a really fresh and fruity perfume. The notes read almost like like a fruit salad (pink grapefruit, pomegranate, mango) but with jasmine and musk mixed in. It’s a super light and refreshing fragrance. I love the size of the roller because it’s so easy to throw in my purse for touch ups. It’s not the longest lasting fragrance but since it’s so easy to reapply, I don’t mind.
The tagline for Ageless is ‘now you smell as young as you feel’ and while I don’t know if it makes me feel any younger, this definitely not an old lady perfume but it’s also not something that reminds me of high school. I honestly can’t wait to try more scents from Harvey Prince.
Now Harvey Prince is giving our readers a chance to win an Ageless Roller EDP of their own! And just in case you don’t win, they also gave us a code so that everyone that wants one can get one for free on their site, pick the Ageless roller, enter code agelessxoxo and pay for shipping. Let us know if you love it as much as we do!

Spring perfume is all about lightening up. It’s time to put away those musky fragrances and shake off the winter blues with three of the sweetest scents of the season.
Demeter Baby’s Head
Ok, we know it has a weird name, but everyone will know what this scent is going to smell like. It has that fresh powdery smell of every sweet little baby. We are sure this perfume is going to evoke some strong memories for some people. For me, it’s just a nice clean powdery smell to keep this season light.
If spring flowers are more your style than this perfume is for you. This is a floral extravaganza. The top note and most prevalent flower is the rose notes that hit your right away. There is also the soft smell of violet and saffron. It’s like taking a flower garden with you wherever you go.
Clean Warm Cotton
Feel all warm and cozy inside with this perfume that lives up to all of the hype. This perfume says it will feel like a warm towel fresh out of the dryer. Boy does it ever! You are going to want to spray this perfume on all of your clothes to give it that fresh and clean scent. It’s perfect for clearing out the cobwebs of a cold and musky winter.
I’m not a huge fan of natural fragrances because they’re always either too strong for me or the scent of patchouli overpowers everything else. Saje’s Yoga perfume doesn’t have either issue. While there is patchouli in the scent, it blends really well with orange, rosewood and other essential oils.
While I don’t do yoga, I can see how this perfume could be useful to get you into that calming state that you need. I love that this perfume is a rollerball, which means you can control how much of the scent you want to apply but I wish the fragrance itself lasted a little longer. It smells pretty strong before it hits your skin and mellows out but it really only lasted a few hours. I imagine if you’re wearing it while getting super sweaty in a yoga class, it won’t even last half that long.
Yoga is probably my favourite natural perfume that I’ve tried so far and I know Saje has other varieties that I’ll probably love as much if not more.
