RoC skin care is anti a lot of things this winter with their Pro-Preserve collection. This line is anti-dryness and anti-oxidant for younger looking and feeling skin.
I started my experience with the line with the Protecting Cream. This moisturizer has a rich, cucumber smell. The cream feels really thick on your hand and is still thick on your face. It gets absorbed pretty quickly though and leaves my face feeling dewy and moist without any tacky feel. I also applied it to my neck and décolletage for added moisture that is much needed as we move into winter. I didn’t think much of this cream until the end of the day. After a few days of using this cream, I started noticing that by the end of the day my face still felt dewy. After a long day of work and events, my face didn’t dry out. My face has never felt so moisturized!
For added protection, I added Anti-Oxidant Protecting Fluid to my daily regime as well. This cream is fragrance free and even lighter than the cream. It is supposed to be an added layer to protect my skin from the dangers of the world. I can’t be positive that my skin was protected, but like I said it was so soft.
I will note that, I can sometimes suffer from breakouts and RoC’s creams did make me break out after about two weeks of using them daily. Since these creams are for dry skin, if your skin has a tendency of getting oily, this moisturizer might be too much for your skin. If you want lots of moisture though, this cream is for you!
If you have ever had dry skin, then I would bet you have purchased at least one bottle of St. Ives moisturizer or body wash in your life. Everyone knows and trusts St. Ives. So now it’s even easier to get that St. Ives hydration with their new spray moisturizer.
I think people are worried that they are going to lose quality in a spray lotion and not get the same moisturizer as a traditional cream. Don’t worry; St. Ives has managed to make their moisturizer feel exactly the same, but just with an easy spray formula.
This moisturizer sprays fast, so you have to be ready when you press down. The spray is thick and creamy without feeling heavy on your skin. Just keep your hands moving while you spray to ensure you get an even coating. Rub it in afterwards to feel it absorb into your skin.
This isn’t an intense moisturizer, so when winter really kicks in you might need to upgrade. It’s great to get your skin ready for the dry season though.
Face masks sometimes feel like they are a dime a dozen, but you can tell when you get the Skyn Iceland Face Gels that they are something different. The package promises less wrinkles and creases in minutes.
From the looks of the packaging, I thought they were going to be complicated and difficult to apply, but these Face Gels are simple. Skyn Iceland has created masks that aren’t all gooey, messy and sticky. These are thin, dry pads that stick to your face without messing up your hands. You just peel off the back sticker and apply to your forehead, smile lines or under your eyes.
I fell instantly in love with the cooling sensation from the pads. It was so relaxing after a long day at work. I used them in all of the right places to feel calm with these cooling pads on my face. As I put my feet up and let the pads do their work, I noticed that they didn’t tug or get stiff like some masks. I could feel them there, but they were never uncomfortable.
After 10 minutes, I went back to the bathroom to remove the pads. There was no tugging or ripping on my skin. They peeled off with no pain. It’s not like those other pads that peel the dirt off of your skin. These slide off and leave your skin feeling soft and moist. My skin has never felt better. It feels so soft that I can’t stop touching it. I don’t really think I have wrinkles, but even my skin feels unbelievably smooth after using these little pads. Under my eyes does feel tighter, leading me to believe that if I did have wrinkles, I would be praising the miracle properties of Skyn Iceland even more. For now I will keep on relaxing with these cool pads on my face and fight wrinkles before they start.
After you hear all of these amazing things about the Skyn Iceland Face Gels, you probably won’t believe me when I tell you that you can get a bag full of all the gels you need for under $20!
The Body Shop has created an argan oil collection that you are going to want to wrap yourself up in. it’s got a rich and velvety scent that is so relaxing to me. Luckily, you really can wrap yourself up in it from head to toe.
The Wild Argan Oil Collection comes in all of The Body Shop’s top products including body butter, body lotion, and shower gel. This time they have added a few new products like massage soap and the product I want to talk about the Miracle Solid Oil for Body & Hair.
I wasn’t sold on solid oils. I thought it would be hard to use and weird having to warm the oil in my fingers. I just dove in one day because I wanted oil for my hair. I have to say it was easy to use and gave me new options for my hair. Instead of having an oil pool in my hand, I can get it onto my fingers. That way I can be more precise on where I apply this oil on my hair. I only wanted to apply it closer to my roots in the front of my hair, and I could do that.
When you are all done with your hair, you can rub the rest of the oil on your body because this product is so versatile. You will be wrapped up in The Body Shop’s Wild Argan Oil all over and love every second.
So many skin care products claim to be gentle but very few are actually gentle enough for sensitive skin and are still effective. Luckily Racinne’s Ultimate Hydra Perfection line does exactly what it says it will.
Gentle Cleansing Foam
This might be the softest cleanser I’ve ever used. It doesn’t get a super thick foam, more of a light one but you can feel it cleaning your skin. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling stripped and dry, just clean and soft.
Gentle Refining Scrub Mask
I don’t know if I would actually call this a mask or a scrub. Sure you leave it on for a few minutes and it does exfoliate but you really don’t notice that it’s doing anything until after you take it off. If you love a good scrub, this is not for you but if you need to exfoliate and your skin is too sensitive to go with the more traditional route, I’m betting you won’t have any issues with this one.
Defense Illuminating Cream
This cream is pretty thick and you really only need a tiny bit to get some serious moisturization. I noticed I had a pretty decent glow a few minutes after applying it for the first time and every time after that, so the illuminating part of the name is a pretty good claim.
With most of the skin care I try on my sensitive, combination skin I usually end up with red patches or I don’t get balanced enough. Racinne’s Ultimate Hydra Perfection didn’t cause any of that and was actually gentle enough that I didn’t have any kind of reaction. Will it be strong enough for the dryness of winter? I don’t know for sure but I’m betting it is.
I hate shaving more than most people, so anything that helps make shaving easier or less frequent is important. I tried the Inhibitif Body Mist to try to help reduce the look and feel of hair, so I don’t have to shave so often.
It’s easy to use Inhibitif once it becomes a part of your routine. Spray the mist on clean shaved or waxed skin twice a day. That’s all. You don’t have to rinse it off or handle messy creams. It’s fast and easy to spray on the mist. It even has a nice spiced smell that is kind of nice unlike other gross hair removal products. It is wet when you spray it on, but it dries quickly. You don’t need to wait hours to get dressed and move on with your day.
As I used the Inhibitif Body Mist on my legs, it didn’t actually take long before I started to notice a difference. I don’t have to shave my legs nearly as often. The hair on my legs seems to grow at half speed. I love not having to shave so much.
I discovered Nude Skincare by accident while looking up a different skincare line. I was surprised to see this brand already had a very loyal following and I had somehow missed them. When the Advanced Renewal Overnight Mask and Eye Cream landed on my doorstep I couldn’t wait to find out what all of the fuss was about. Nude Skincare made a great first impression. The packaging is sleek and minimalistic. The logo is cool. Nude Skincare with its natural ingredients and paraben and chemical free isn’t here to be fancy, but make a subtle statement that you won’t forget.
I started with the overnight mask. This cream is smooth with a faint smell, but nothing overpowering. That is important for me with a night cream. I hate going to bed smelling strong creams on my skin. It keeps me up all night.
The cream also gets absorbed into your skin quickly, so you don’t have to wait for it to dry. Since it is called an Overnight Mask, which was impressive to me. I expected to have to wait before letting my head hit the pillow.
When I woke up though, I looked in the mirror and didn’t see anything. My skin felt the same. It looked the same. I didn’t appear to be glowing or more radiant or look younger.
I moved on to the Advanced Renewal Eye Complex. This little cream on the other hand gives me instant results. Apply this baby sparingly under your eyes to see your circle get lighter and less noticeable before your eyes. Your skin looks so refreshed. I apply a little foundation or bb cream over top and no one would ever know about my dark circles. My only complaint is that unlike its companion, the under eye cream does take some time to dry, so you need to let it sit for a few minutes.
Because of the amazing results I got from the Eye Complex, I am going to go back and give the Advanced Renewal Overnight Repair Mask a second chance. Maybe it takes longer to get results, but if my experience with Nude Skincare is what I can expect in the future. You will be hearing a lot more about them here.
Lush is known for bringing out new products seasonally but usually they disappear pretty quickly. Luckily this summer’s new products are rumoured to be part of the permanent line.
African Paradise Body Conditioner
I already use Lush’s Ro’s Argan body conditioner pretty religiously and I’m so happy they brought out a new scent. African Paradise has a slightly spicy floral scent that isn’t nearly as overpowering as Ro’s Argan but you still get the same super soft skin.
D’Fluff Shaving Soap
D’Fluff is sold out online as I write this and that speaks volumes about how Lush fans really wanted a shaving soap that was just a little more girly (althought I’m sure guys will steal it). It smells like strawberries and goes on really nicely for a smooth shave.
Granny Takes A Dip Bath Bomb
This is really more like a Bubble Bar in that you could absolutely break it up and get more than one bath out of it. The colours the water turns is gorgeous and it smells like candy.
Parsley Porridge Soap
This soap is perfect for the kitchen with it’s slightly herbal scent. It has oatmeal for scrubbiness and it’s pretty moisturizing. Not my favourite scent but it’s growing on me.
The summer line also has Mangnificent soap which I’m definitely going to try at some point and Zeste hair styling gel. There’s a little something for everyone and I can’t wait to see what they come out with next!
Sometimes you need to splurge on skin treatments, and other times you find a great product that does wonders for your skin for under $20. This is the case with the Masque Bar line from Look Beauty.
These little masks are formulated to for a range of different skin types. It’s easy to figure out which one you want to use. Over a few months, I tried the Pore Reducing Crème Mask, the Brightening Sheet Mask and the Anti-Blemish Mud Mask. It would have been easy for Look Beauty to cheap out and just make a similar mask and call it different things. They didn’t! Each of the masks had their own properties. They all felt different and dried different. It gave me confidence that each was made different.
There was one common theme though. After I rinsed off these masks, my skin always felt amazing. My face felt deeply moisturized without feeling sticky or wet. Most of all they left my face feeling really clean without getting dry. It’s all a delicate balance and the Masque Bar line has done it all.
It’s going to be my new skin care secret!
There are so few companies that have been around for 100 years, let alone still use natural products with ingredients that are actually recognizable. J.R. Watkins has been making all natural products since 1868. When we got the Pomegranate & Acai collection, the first thing I noticed was how delicious the scent was. Fruity but not overpowering and perfect for summer.
Sugar and Shea Body Scrub
Some sugar scrubs can also double as a body wash but I wouldn’t recommend it for this one. However, the sugar is really find and mixed with shea butter and coconut oil, it’s the perfect blend of exfoliating and hydrating.
Bath and Body Oil
This oil has so many uses. You can use it in a bath, as a massage oil or after shaving. I use it right after a shower before I dry off. I wish the scent was a little more obvious but it moisturizes like crazy.
Shea Butter Hand Cream
This is my favourite thing in the collection and by far one of the best hand creams I’ve ever used. It absorbs literally in seconds, leaving your hands completely smooth but not even remotely greasy. It passes the ‘put on hand cream and do something right away’ test. I’ll definitely be hoarding these in winter and probably trying every scent available.
The Pomegranate & Acai collection also has a Hand & Body Lotion that I want to try but I’m probably going to make my way through all the other J.R. Watkins collections first, they all sound amazing.
