Be Yourself With Avon Eau De Toilette

I’ve just discovered some adorable and affordable perfume from Avon that are going to look great on your makeup table. Be Fun, Be Romantic and Be Daring Eau de Toilette are light and fresh perfumes that anyone can appreciate.

I love the bottles for their adorable prints. I almost don’t even care what they smell like. The colourful dots on Be Fun, pink hearts on Be Romantic and purple arrows on Be Daring are perfect for displaying.

Be Fun is the lighter of the three scents in my opinion. It has a refreshing pear scent to it off the top that is light and clean. It smells a bit like what I imagine a pear mimosa would smell like if you could bottle it up.

Be Romantic is a rose based scent. This one smells like someone’s idea of a sexy and feminine perfume for the sweet feminine women. The problem with it for me is that it isn’t really sensual or sexy at all. It has too much rose. It almost makes it smell fake and chemically. I far prefer the Be Fun fragrance from Avon.

Be Daring is a combination of bergamot, magnolia and musk and while I usually hate the smell of bergamot, I love this scent. The fruity, floral fragrance is unique and fun.

These perfumes don’t last a really long time on your skin. But you have to also remember that they are just $26 each! I have slightly lower standards for perfume when it’s that affordable, plus I don’t mind if I also use it as a room spray.

At-Home Spa Day Most Wanted

Sometimes a girl just needs an at-home spa day for a little pampering with all of your favourite new bath, body and beauty products, candles and a glass of wine. Here are a few products to add to your supple for the perfect spa day at home:

Live Clean Dead Sea Salts – Soothe tired muscles on your at-home spa day with a long bath with these Live Clean Dead Sea Salts. They have Epsom salts, green tea extracts, aloe vera, Eucalyptus essential oils and Ginger. All of this combines for soothed muscles. The scent is strong, but really relaxing at the same time. It’s perfect for helping you forget that busy week.

Avon Foot Works Clay Mask – A spa day wouldn’t be complete without a little foot pampering. Short of having someone to give you a pedicure in your living room, this foot clay mask is the best thing to do. I’ve tried lots of clay masks for my face, but never for my feet. The feeling is pretty similar. Be sure that you are sitting somewhere good, because you won’t be able to walk around. You will need to clean your feet off wherever you are. The lavender smell is nice and relaxing while you wait. I didn’t expect much in the way of results, but my feet were very soft after just 10 minutes or so with this on.

Arbonne Tahitian Coconut Lip Therapy Set – You don’t usually get to pamper your lips, but it feels so good when you do. The Lip Smoother is a coconut exfoliator that will help clean up all of that dead skin from winter. The Lip Salve is an oil based balm that softens and moisturizes. It’s a nice treat for your lips to feel soften and fresh.

Claus Porto Soap Gift Box – This is the MOST beautiful soap that I’ve ever owned. The white box with the art deco logo is the first signal that you are in for a treat. No matter how many times I opened it to see the three soaps inside, I was never not in awe. The packaging for each of these German soaps is a work of art in itself. Almost too beautiful to use. When you have had your time with the box, be ready for a nice treat with this soft smelling soap in the tub. Spoil yourself, or someone that you love a lot, with these soaps for every occasion.

Skyn Iceland All Eyes On You Treatments – Skyn Iceland has some of my favourite eye products. They always make them nice and cooling and soothing so that my eyes feel relaxed. This set includes an Icelandic Relief Eye Pen, Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels and Glacial Cleansing Cloths. This means you can pamper yourself with the gels now and have the cloths and pen for your regular everyday use.

Avon Gifts Most Wanted

Nowadays everyone is shopping online, but there was a time when very few company would let you shop from the comfort of your pyjamas. Avon was always there for you to be able to shop from home for beauty products, bath essentials and great gifts. We have turned to Avon this holiday season to see what we can find for everyone’s wishlists.

avon-anew-creme

For Mom – Avon Anew Ultimate Supreme Advanced Performance Creme – If your mom is anything like my mom than she has a soft spot for Avon products regardless of what other beauty line are on the market. And she will love this Creme from Avon. It’s a cool night creme that has a powdery soft scent, smooth finish and is supposed to improve signs of aging with rare black pearls. For just $60, it’s worth the treat for mom!

avon-ultra-sexy-body-mist

For the little diva – Avon Ultra Sexy Body Mist – Help her feel grown up, while still keeping it light. This collection comes with three bottles for $20 and the scents are young and light and fresh. They will make any young lady feel all grown up without the cost of a designer fragrance. Notes include cherries, pear, raspberry, and chocolate marshmallow, so you know she will love it.

avon-prima-pack

For the classic belle – Avon Prima Fragrance Pack – If you need a stocking stuffer for a girl who likes the classics look no further than this fragrance which has ballerina Courtney Lavine as it’s face. The scent is just the right mixture of rose and patchouli to be soft and luxurious feeling. Get the trio pack for just $30 before Christmas so she cam pamper herself in it.

Makeup Most Wanted November 2016: Alyssa’s Picks

I can’t believe it’s already the end of November; it feels like it was just summer and now we’re working on holiday posts. These are my favourite things from the past few months.

Korres Golden Krocus Ageless Saffron Elixir
korres-golden-krocus-ageless-saffron-elixir
Right now my anti-aging needs are mostly preventative but considering I’m a skin care junkie, I love to try new products. Boosters seem to be the new serums lately and I’m seeing them everywhere so I’ve tried a couple. Korres has my favourite of them so far. The Golden Krocus Elixir is pretty delightful. I love everything from the packaging, to the texture, to the slightly spicy scent. Made with Greek Saffron, you really only need a drop or two of this booster to get results. Now obviously I’m not looking for major results in wrinkles in my skin because I don’t have any; but my skin looks brighter, feels smoother and really just glows. It’s so light that it absorbs within seconds and you follow it up with whatever serums and moisturizers you’d normally use. It really feels amazing. I love the scent so much, I’ve been reaching for my unscented options.

Clinique Lash Power Flutter-To-Full Mascara
clinique-lash-power-flutter-to-full-mascara
I have so much mascara that I actually have trouble on a regular basis deciding which one to use but I’ve been using this one for months and absolutely love it. I generally like Clinique’s mascaras but they all seem to serve only one purpose. I have one for volume and one for length but Flutter-To-Full is kind of a three-in-one. There’s a dial with three options that let’s you control how much intensity you get. The lowest form gives you a barely there, natural look. The next one amps it up a bit but still stays fairly natural and the third gives you major night look drama. I tend to always use the third option because I love big lashes but I appreciate the options. It also stays on forever without smudging or flaking. Clinique says 24 hours and I totally agree with that. They also say it comes off with warm water and I would like to disagree, I have the hardest time getting this one off but that also means I can trust it not to disappear on me.

Sephora Collection Double Time Double Ended Brush Set
sephora-double-time-brush-set
I think one of the most underrated things about Sephora is their variety of Sephora brand brush sets. There’s something for every need and every budget and while they’re not always the highest quality, they usually do a decent job. I really love this Double Time set because each brush is double ended, so you get twelve travel brushes that look like six full size ones and handle like full size. This is a great set for travel because you have every brush you could need in one place and the faux leather is super soft and durable; just like the brushes themselves.

Avon Skin So Soft Winter Soft Nourishing Hand Cream
avon-skin-so-soft-winter-soft-nourishing-hand-cream
I think one of the first hand creams I ever used was from Avon (my mom sold it when I was in high school) and it’s really nice to know that it still works as well as I remember. I’m so picky about hand cream and this one works quite nicely. It goes on smoothly, absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave my hands feeling greasy. It has Shea Butter, Babassu Oil and Vitamin E to soften and hydrate your hands. While it doesn’t last 24 hours for me like it claims, I only have to use it a couple times a day and my hands don’t feel dried out.

Maybelline The Loaded Bolds in Gone Greige
maybelline-loaded-bolds-gone-greige

As much as I love a matte liquid lipstick, the winter dryness isn’t really letting me use them as much as I did in the summer, so I’m back to a creamier, more traditional lipstick. Maybelline’s The Loaded Bolds aren’t really a typical lipstick. They’re matte but they’re also extremely hydrating and comfortable. I keep forgetting that I’m wearing them because they feel like lip balm. The shades are also incredibly pigmented. One swipe and I have full coverage and zero patchiness. But it’s my favourite shade that surprises me the most. Greige anything doesn’t look good on me, it really washes me out and makes my skin, well, grey. I tried Gone Greige because I really wanted to love it. It’s such a 90’s inspired shade and I am a 90’s kid. So I was completely shocked when the grey-ish brown actually looked good on me. I hope they end up releasing more shades, because ten just doesn’t seem enough. At least I have a winter lipstick that I’ll be using a lot. And it’s not red.

Avon Anew Clean Mini Cleansers

Avon Anew Travel
Anew is Avon’s most popular skin care collection, or at least it’s the one I’ve heard of the most and in August they’re introducing the Anew Clean Mini Cleansers. There are six products to choose from. Three traditional cleansers, a cleansing water, toner and a scrub.
Avon Anew Travel Cleansers
The gel cleanser is meant for oily/combination skin, the rich cleansing foam is for normal/combination skin and the cream cleanser & mask is for normal/dry skin.
Avon Anew Travel Skincare
The cleansing water let’s you cleanse, hydrate and tone without needing water and the toner gets everything that you missed off. If you’re like me and love exfoliating, the daily scrub is a gentle way to do it.

All of these will be $6 each and are available as of August from whoever you get your Avon from. In the meantime, I’ll be taking a couple of these on vacation with me.

Holiday Most Wanted Blockbuster Makeup Kits

Sometimes we need just a little more makeup choice than what a regular palette offers and while we see a lot of gift sets for the holidays, these blockbuster makeup kits will give you more options than you’ll know what to do with.
Avon Makeup Studio Palette
Avon Makeup Studio Palette
This makeup palette doesn’t look all that big in the box but when you open it up there’s 24 eye shadows, 12 lip glosses, 2 blushes, 2 bronzers and a couple brushes.
Avon Makeup Studio Case
The colour options are great and give you lots of choice and while I would probably use other brushes than the ones in the kit, the fact that they’re even in there is great.
Avon Makeup Studio Palette Inside
This is a great gift for someone just starting to use makeup or don’t want a lot lying around. It’s also small enough that it’s great for travelling.
Sephora Color Wonderland
Sephora Color Wonderland Box
I always look forward to seeing what huge makeup palette Sephora will pull out every year. This year’s Color Wonderland is for every eye shadow junkie you know.
Sephora Color Wonderland Inside
The 78 eye shadows, 2 eye pencils and a dual-sided brush are split up into a neutral side and a vivid side.
Sephora Color Wonderland Neutrals
The neutral side is perfect for day looks or a neutral smoky eye.
Sephora Color Wonderland Vivids
The vivid side is great for experimenting with colour and there are literally endless combinations between both sides. The packaging is great, nothing is going to pop apart like previous years and it’s folded into a slim book that makes it easy to carry or store. Another added bonus is that the shades you’ll use more often are significantly larger than accent shades.

If you know anyone that loves makeup and really wants to play around, one of these palettes would make the perfect gift.

Avon Outspoken Party! by Fergie

Avon Outspoken Party by Fergie
Its been a really long time since I’ve tried a fragrance from Avon, so I haven’t tried any of Fergie’s and didn’t really know what to expect from their newest collaboration, Outspoken Party! With notes of peony, raspberry and crème brûlée, I thought it would be much too sweet for me but I was pleasantly surprised by how subtle the sweetness is.

The scent doesn’t go on too strong and doesn’t fade too quickly, though it doesn’t last all day. It’s a great scent for fall that works either day or night, though the name suggests it’s a nighttime scent. I like Outspoken Party! enough that I’m curious about Fergie’s other fragrances.

For breast cancer awareness month, Avon is donating $5 from each Outspoken Party! purchase to their Avon Foundation For Women organization.

Avon Luck For Her

avon luck perfume

Avon has a great reputation for releasing amazing perfumes including Halle Berry’s and Fergie’s bestselling scents. The new perfume, which features Maria Sharapova in the ads, is for the woman who is already lucky in life and love.

The notes on the perfume include bergamot, red berries and mandarin with night flowers and sandalwood. It’s strange though because to my nose, all I get is a strong smell of warm vanilla. Vanilla isn’t even listed as one of the ingredients, but when I spray it all I get is enveloped in a rich vanilla scent. I have a love hate relationship with vanilla. Sometimes I find it very relaxing and comforting, but some varieties of the smell can be overwhelming to me. This perfume is pretty overwhelming when I first spray it, but it gets a little better to me as it settles into my skin.

I also used the body lotion and bath gel and the smell is much more subtle. I could get more of the other notes in the shower gel and body lotion.

When I wore Luck to work, I have to say I got many compliments about the scent. As I walked past people’s desks they would ask me what I was wearing.

If you are feeling lucky and love the smell of vanilla, maybe this is the scent for you.

August Makeup Most Wanted – Alyssa’s Picks

August Most Wanted
Summer is almost over (already!) and the weather in Toronto has been super crazy. Everything from hot and humid to kind of cold, so these were my picks in August when you had no idea what to do with your makeup.
Marcelle Ideal Skin Perfector
Marcelle Ideal Skin Perfector
I’ve used this lightweight cream for a moisturizer, a base for makeup and everything in between. it absorbs so fast and feels like you have nothing on your face. I love that it’s a Canadian company and since it’s both hypo-allergenic and recognized by the Canadian Dermatology Association, I don’t have to worry about any adverse effects on my relatively sensitive skin.
NYC Smooth Skin BB Creme 5-In-1 in Light
NYC Smooth Skin BB Creme 5 In 1 Light
This is probably the best drugstore BB Creme I’ve ever used. It’s light enough for my fair skin, covers everything it should cover but it’s not heavy at all. Actually, it’s a little runny, which I love, so I use less and can blend more easily. Since it’s under 5 bucks I’ll definitely be buying this again when I run out.
Avon Mega Effects Liquid Eye Liner in Black
Avon Mega Effects Liquid Eyeliner Black
Avon makeup is usually pretty hit and miss with me but this is definitely a win. The chiseled tip of this liquid eyeliner is pretty different than most and makes a cat eye super easy. It stays put pretty well, even in humidity, but is a lot easier to get off than most liquid liners.
Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium
Benefit Gimme Brow Light-Medium
I was convinced this would be too dark for my almost white eyebrows but it looks so natural I almost can’t believe it. Over the past few months I’ve tried a number of eyebrow products and this is the only one I’ve stuck to. The tiny mascara brush applicator basically makes it foolproof and it lasts until you take it off.
Annabelle Big Show Waterproof Mascara
Annabelle Big Show Waterproof Mascara
I wasn’t really a fan of the non waterproof version of this mascara so I’m not sure what happened to make me love this one so much. It defines, it lengthens and it’s not clumpy. I wish it was a tiny bit darker but for running around in humidity this is the perfect mascara.
Yves Rocher Sheer Botanical Lipstick in Tangerine
Yves Rocher Sheer Botanical Lipstick Tangerine
This is the perfect orange shade for summer but it’s not too bright and is just a little bit sheer. I love how long it lasts on my lips and is almost like a stain when it starts wearing off. And it smells like cherries which is a bonus.

May’s Makeup Most Wanted – Steph’s Picks

Spring is about starting fresh, so here are my most wanted makeup and beauty products for this month that will give you a fresh start whether it’s clean skin, pampering yourself or looking hot.

philosophy vanilla coconut

1. philosophy Vanilla Coconut set – This little three product set has me totally transported to a tropical island. The body lotion, shower gel and lip gloss trio has an intoxicated scent that I can’t get enough of. It’s perfect for summer’s coming long days and makes me feel a bit of the summer when it’s cold out.

shea-butter-lip-balm-pixi

2. Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm – Every girl should have a perfectly pink lip balm in their purse at all times. One that gives you a hint of colour and softens your lips. My new go to is Pixi Beauty’s Ripe Raspberry lip balm. It makes my lips feel so kissably soft.

Smashbox-Santigolden-Age-20

3. Smashbox Santigolden Age Collection – This Smashbox collection is only for the real cool girls. Even the packaging screams super cool. The eyeshadow palette is full of dramatic blue and orange shades, while the eyeliner is shocking blue and glam gold. Of course the nail polish strips are the icing on the cake with those super funky wraps that no one will ever forget.

dermalogica clear start

4. Dermalogica Clear Start – I wish I had this acne skin care collection when I was a teen. It’s like getting a Dermalogica spa facial in your home. The face wash smells light and fresh, while the Daytime Treatment is easy to use and really effective on nasty breakouts.

avon cc corrector

5. Avon Ideal Flawless CC Color Corrector Pencil – I have a love/hate relationship with concealer, but this corrector pencil made all of my hate go away. This little pencil is the perfect on the go concealer for any issues. It is easy for breakouts, dark spots or under eyes to make you feel confident in seconds.

me-time-spa-treats

6. Sanctuary Spa Me Time Spa Treats – I wish I could head to the spa every week, but unfortunately I can’t. I love this little set to save until you have a night alone to take over the bathroom for serious pampering. It has a body wash, scrub, butter and hand cream that have the smell of your favourite spa. Perfect for you or for a gift if you can part with it.
