We’ve all known for years that body oil is great for you skin in so many ways. Nivea is finally joining this game with their own body oil. I feel like for the most part this category doesn’t have many big brand names, but instead cult products. It will be interesting to see how the Nivea Body Oil holds up in the long run.
Nivea’s Body Oil has a light perfumed scent. I do hope that they bring out an unscented version, because I would rather have more natural smelling oil.
Nevermind the smell though, because it’s more about the oil performance on the skin. I love that the bottle releases this body oil only a few drops at a time. There is minimal risk of pouring out too much. It goes on the skin really smooth. It dries much quicker than I expected. As long as you don’t use too much, it doesn’t even leave any type of residue on your skin and hands. It just leaves your skin with a natural looking glow.
I can’t speak to the effectiveness of reducing stretch marks or firming the skin. If it works like other body oils though, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Those are fairly common benefits of using oils.
Nivea impressed me with their Body Oil, but people already have their favourites, so I don’t know if they will be willing to make the switch.
We’re in the midst of a warm winter, but that doesn’t mean the chill isn’t taking its toll on my skin. The latest way to moisturize seems to be with oils instead of cream. I tried four body oils to see which restored my soft summer skin.
Neutrogena Body Oil
Get a sleek and smooth moisturizing experience that is so versatile. Neutrogena’s version of this hot trend gives me so many options to use it in a variety of ways. I appreciate any product that makes it easier to work into my normal every day routine. You can moisturize onto dry skin, apply to damp skin after shower or bath to seal in moisture or add a few drops into your bath water for a soothing and relaxing experience. Unlike some other body oils, Neutrogena’s has a very light scent that gives you that clean smell without too many additives. Also unlike many other oils, this oil dries very quickly and doesn’t leave my skin or hands feeling greasy. You have no idea how happy that makes me!
Live Clean Skin Perfecting Dry Oil
With a mixture of many different all natural oils, Live Clean has done it again! They are quickly becoming one of my favourite brands. This time they have made a body oil that mot only moisturizes but also helps to reduce the appearance of scars, stretch marks and skin tone. This is nothing new. There have been oils that make these claims for a long time, so we know this is something that works. I haven’t had the Live Clean oil long enough to prove this one also works, so I am trusting that it works. This oil is a bit greasier than some of the others available, but it dries quickly enough that it isn’t too bothersome.
Zaya Body Oil
Moisturize and enhance the skin with this natural oil that has a range of lovely ingredients to brighten your day. The best ingredient in this oil is the pink grapefruit oil. The citrus scent is undeniable in the oil and on the skin. It’s a really refreshing scent. It’s wonderful for a morning pick-me-up. There is also sweet almond oil to make it softening and a sweet scent. There are also a number of essential oils to help tone and tighten your skin and improve collagen production. The smell is also very sensual if I do say so myself and would be perfect for a romantic night in… if you know what I mean.
Caudalie Shaping & Firming Body Oil
Caudalie’s new line is all about helping you slim down including this new oil. It’s meant to firm and smooth your skin, with the bonus of adding a moisturizing skin to your skin. I haven’t been using it long enough yet to tell you if my skin is any tighter, but it does feel oh, so soft. The only problem is that it smells bad. After getting out of the shower with my skin smelling all nice, I don’t really want to apply this strange smelling oil. I do think some people will love the herbal smell, so don’t write it off entirely. This just isn’t the scent for me.
I have so many beauty products clogging up my counter (and drawers), that I fully appreciate a multi-purpose product. Nuxe’s Huile Prodigieuse is the very definition of multitasking. I’ve been hearing about Nuxe for a pretty long time but I hadn’t tried anything until I received this dry oil. With Macadamia, Hazelnut, Borage, Sweet Almond, Camellia and St.John’s Wort oils all in Huile Prodigieuse, I had high expectations. And I wasn’t disappointed.
You can literally use this oil for everything. I’ve used it on my body after a shower, on my hair as a mask before I wash it and after it’s dry for a little shine (only a drop). My face is pretty oily in the summer, so I haven’t tried it there yet but I imagine I’ll love it in the winter. And you really use so much less than you’d expect. I’m actually really happy to have gotten the splash bottle instead of the spray. It’s so much easier to control and you don’t waste any but it does get a bit slippery.
The scent is so beautiful that I would use it for that alone. Luckily there are so many other reasons to get your hands on a bottle. Really you can lose count coming up with new things to use it for.
There are so few companies that have been around for 100 years, let alone still use natural products with ingredients that are actually recognizable. J.R. Watkins has been making all natural products since 1868. When we got the Pomegranate & Acai collection, the first thing I noticed was how delicious the scent was. Fruity but not overpowering and perfect for summer.
Sugar and Shea Body Scrub
Some sugar scrubs can also double as a body wash but I wouldn’t recommend it for this one. However, the sugar is really find and mixed with shea butter and coconut oil, it’s the perfect blend of exfoliating and hydrating.
Bath and Body Oil
This oil has so many uses. You can use it in a bath, as a massage oil or after shaving. I use it right after a shower before I dry off. I wish the scent was a little more obvious but it moisturizes like crazy.
Shea Butter Hand Cream
This is my favourite thing in the collection and by far one of the best hand creams I’ve ever used. It absorbs literally in seconds, leaving your hands completely smooth but not even remotely greasy. It passes the ‘put on hand cream and do something right away’ test. I’ll definitely be hoarding these in winter and probably trying every scent available.
The Pomegranate & Acai collection also has a Hand & Body Lotion that I want to try but I’m probably going to make my way through all the other J.R. Watkins collections first, they all sound amazing.
