The Body Shop Spas Of The World Most Wanted

Both of us recently had the chance to visit different Body Shop locations to get acquainted with their new products and to take some home to try out. Luckily both of us left with different products and it just so happened that we received items that both of us loved. Our most favourites so far are all in the ever growing Spas Of The World range, so we thought we’d do a post on our new Body Shop loves.

French Grape Seed Refining Body Scrub

I have really sensitive skin, so I’m always on the hunt for a good body scrub that will do the job and won’t tear up my skin. When I tried this scrub on my hand in the store I was amazed at how scrubby yet gentle it was. With a combination of French grape seed powder and sugar from Paraguay, you can really get that dead skin off without feeling like you scrubbed yourself raw. The scent, that I assume comes from the grape seeds, is amazingly fresh and because it’s got a creamy consistency, you can decide on the level of scrub you want. If I have a super dry area, I use a washcloth with the scrub to get really smooth skin. This is going to be a necessity for the next few months of shaving and waxing season and then in the winter when my skin gets flaky. One word of warning, this is way too strong for your face, so don’t try it.

Ethiopian Green Coffee Firming Body Cream

If you’re going to use a scrub, you’re going to need a good moisturizer after and this body cream is a match made in heaven with the French Grape Seed Scrub. I’m a coffee person, so I was already sold on this cream just by reading the name but it’s so much more than that. It’s a really lightweight cream that has Italian olive oil and Ethiopian green coffee that just melts into your skin and leaves you hydrated and smelling delicious but not greasy whatsoever. The consistency really surprised me because I usually find Body Shop moisturizers too heavy for me, but this one is absolutely perfect! It’s been a really long time since I’ve loved something from the Body Shop this month. I’ve already made a huge dent in the giant 350 ml tub and I already know I’ll be replacing it when it’s gone.

Tahitian Tiare Bath & Shower Oil-In-Gel

This body wash is so soft and silky. The oil-in-gel body wash is just the right consistency. Given the name, it’s understandable that you might worry that it would be too oily or even greasy. It’s just smooth on the skin. The scent is really faint and lush. There is a hint of florals, but I wouldn’t call it a floral aroma. There is coconut oil in it, but this isn’t another coconut body wash. After a couple of uses, I was surprised at how soft my skin was. It was undeniable.

Hawaiian Kukui Body Cream Moisturizer

This is the type of moisturizer that I associate with The Body Shop. It is thick and rich. In the past, body moisturizer from the body shop was always thick, but it didn’t absorb well into the skin. It always left some residue on my body. It feels like The Body Shop has corrected those mistakes with this cream. It still has the same thickness, but this time it really sinks into my skin. It works on even the toughest skin like elbows and knees.

Brazilian Cupuacu Exfoliating Scrub-In-Oil

I’ve used a lot of exfoliators, but none as gentle as this exfoliator. The sugar in this scrub is so fine that it works on everything from the sensitive parts to your rough spots. The oil is probably the most surprising part of this. It is better quality oil than a lot of the other drug store exfoliators that I’ve used. It leaves your skin feeling protected and highly moisturized. When paired with the other two products, it’s the perfect trio!

Spring Bath Products

Scrub off winter dry skin with these three bath products that will have you relaxing and soft in no time!

Lotus Aroma Bath & Body Wash Rose & Indian Geranium – If you love florals then this is the body wash for you. You can always count on Lotus Aroma for creating new scents that really fill up a room. This body wash is no different. The rose and geranium smell really surrounds you and makes you feel all girly and flowery. The scent doesn’t linger on your skin, which is a bit disappointing, but you still feel all lovely and clean.

Caress Body Wash – I didn’t think much of the Caress Body Wash when I saw them. I admit that I judged them because they are affordable (under $5) and available at value stores like Walmart. I tried the Silkening and Exfoliating soaps with pleasant results. The Silkening soaps are so soft and gentle on your skin. It’s hard to deny that your skin feels softer when you get out of the shower. Meanwhile the Exfoliating soap is gentle enough that you can exfoliate regularly, which is so important to stop dry winter skin.

Bleu Lavande Sea Salt Scrub – Unlike most sea salt scrubs, this one is all in. This scrub is packed full of salt to give you a serious exfoliation. The soft lavender scent also makes it perfect for those before bedtime showers. Your skin will feel smooth and soft and you will be relaxed.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Collection

Body Shop Virgin Mojito Line
If I’m getting a girly summer drink it’s probably going to be a Mojito and if you add in my love of lime and mint, The Body Shop’s Virgin Mojito line is right up my alley. With most summer collections smelling of coconut, this line is literally a refreshing change. We got to try three products out of the five in the collection and while I’d have liked to try the shower gel (I’ll be heading to a store to get one soon), I’m pretty happy with what I tried.
Virgin Mojito Body Scrub
Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Scrub
I haven’t used a scrub from the Body Shop before and I was pleasantly surprised at how gentle yet effective it was. While you don’t get heavy duty exfoliation, you do get to use it more often because it doesn’t scrub your skin away. My sensitive skin isn’t a fan of harsher sugar scrubs so this one is perfect for me.
Virgin Mojito Body Splash
Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Splash
This is in fact, a splash. I wish it was a spray but the hole in the top of the bottle is small enough that you can get some scent on you without making a huge mess. It doesn’t last quite as long as I’d like but the scent is to die for. The combination of mint and lime and what smells like a hint of verbena is so refreshing for summer.
Virgin Mojito Body Butter
Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter
This body butter is so thick that it’s almost a solid and yet it absorbed into my skin really quickly and didn’t leave me greasy. My biggest complain with Body Shop body butters is that the scent doesn’t last long enough. That’s not the case with this one, the scent lasts for hours so I have moisturized skin that smells good all day.

I wish this line wasn’t limited edition because it’s definitely one of my summer obsessions. I have a feeling I’ll be stocking up because I know I’ll want more of these when they’re gone.

All Natural Scrubs Most Wanted

All natural face and body scrubs are one of my favourite trends right now! I love exfoliating and scrubbing my skin with all natural products that are good for my skin and the earth. Here is a roundup of some scrubs that I am in love with that you need to try now!

Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub

Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub – Sugar scrubs are nothing new, but now there are more options than ever.  Get the feeling of being in the tropics. The smell of coconut and lime hits you right when you open the container. Tree Hut has used a whole shelf of beautiful smelling natural oils and shea butter to keep this scrub soft and moisturizing. It will leave your skin moist with a hint of that tropical smell that will linger with you wherever you go.

Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub

Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub – While it’s not new to the market, this lip scrub is still one of our favourite products. Lips feeling dry, flaky or cracked? This sweet treat is the one that we keep in our arsenal. You apply some of the sugar scrub onto your lips and rub it all over. The minty flavour brings a freshness to your mouth. After you are done, you just lick the sugar off for a sweet finish.  Your lips will feel soft and refreshed.

Jealous Body Scrub

Jealous Body Scrub – I’ve never been so excited as I was to try this coffee and coconut scrub. When you open this package it’s like opening a fresh package of coffee. The smell of freshly ground coffee is amazing! Using this scrub is another matter. It’s a messy job applying this scrub to wet skin. I’m not sure how most people can leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes without rinsing. Do I stand there in the tub with the water off because I’m worried it’s too messy to walk around the house? I left it on for as long as I could before getting bored and scrubbing it off. My skin felt oh so soft and I could smell the fresh coffee lingering in the air.

J.R. Watkins Pomegranate & Acai

JR Watkins Pomegranate & Acai Collection
There are so few companies that have been around for 100 years, let alone still use natural products with ingredients that are actually recognizable. J.R. Watkins has been making all natural products since 1868. When we got the Pomegranate & Acai collection, the first thing I noticed was how delicious the scent was. Fruity but not overpowering and perfect for summer.
Sugar and Shea Body Scrub
JR Watkins Sugar and Shea Body Scrub
Some sugar scrubs can also double as a body wash but I wouldn’t recommend it for this one. However, the sugar is really find and mixed with shea butter and coconut oil, it’s the perfect blend of exfoliating and hydrating.
Bath and Body Oil
JR Watkins Bath And Body Oil
This oil has so many uses. You can use it in a bath, as a massage oil or after shaving. I use it right after a shower before I dry off. I wish the scent was a little more obvious but it moisturizes like crazy.
Shea Butter Hand Cream
JR Watkins Shea Butter Hand Cream
This is my favourite thing in the collection and by far one of the best hand creams I’ve ever used. It absorbs literally in seconds, leaving your hands completely smooth but not even remotely greasy. It passes the ‘put on hand cream and do something right away’ test. I’ll definitely be hoarding these in winter and probably trying every scent available.
The Pomegranate & Acai collection also has a Hand & Body Lotion that I want to try but I’m probably going to make my way through all the other J.R. Watkins collections first, they all sound amazing.
