Skyn Iceland Brightening Eye Serum – This eye serum isn’t just small in size, but also price. It’s unique, in that it is more like a gel than any other eye product I’ve used before. It feels really moisturizing around my eyes. Skyn Iceland says it’s meant to relax the skin and boost collagen, all meaning you can say goodbye to lines. I’ve had such success with Skyn Iceland in the past, I don’t doubt them at all.
Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil – If you want a little splurge that will last a long time, try this face oil from Dermalogica. You already know and trust the brand when you get a facial. Get that same moisture with this little oil. You can wear it alone or add it to your daily moisturizer to add a massive boost of hydration to your skin. This face oil is a little bit oily on my skin when worn alone, but you don’t notice it as much when mixed with other products. It does feel refreshing and give my face that nice dewy feel that I just want to touch.
Garnier Skin Active Clearly Brighter Gentle Smoothing Scrub – Garnier’s Skin Active Smoothing Scrub is everything my face wants in a daily face wash. It’s gentle enough to use every day, but tough enough that I feel really clean afterwards. I like that it’s not heavily scented. It even uses sustainable argan, so I can feel a bit better about using it. I do find that it dries out my face a bit, but that just gives me the opportunity to use some of those really super moisturizing creams. For this price, it’s just what my wallet wants for skin care too.
Strivectin Overnight Replenishing Moisture Mask – When in need of a burst of just straight moisture, this Strivectin Overnight Mask is an easy solution. Apply a generous layer on your face before bed and you are sure to wake up feeling extra moisturized. If you are like me, you might worry about getting cream all over your pillow. The Strivectin cream does absorb enough that by the time I was actually putting my head down, my fears were pretty much gone. I feel like this mask is the perfect secret skin care weapon. Personally, it’s not something that I need to use 2 or 3 times a week, but maybe once a month I could get my moisture on with Strivectin.
Now is the time to discover moisturizing products from Lierac Paris ladies, because we can’t pretend that it isn’t winter any more. Cold temperatures are here and my skin is feeling it. Take the plunge and treat yourself to luxury from Lierac Paris.
I started my journey with Lierac Paris with the Hydragenist Moisture Cream. It has a light scent that won’t overwhelm you. I hate moisturizer that has too strong a smell, so this light rose was nice. The cream is meant for dry to very dry skin. It’s a treat for your face. It will leave you feeling softer and more moisturized almost instantly. You don’t have to wait for it to dry or absorb like some other moisturizers. You can get on with your day right away with softer skin.
Because everyone wants to wake up looking refreshed with smooth skin, I tried the Lierac Paris Magnificence Nuit Gel-In-Balm. You apply this cream before you go to sleep, so it can work overnight. Like the name suggests, it’s a cream that acts more like a gel. My skin loves gel based products, so it’s no surprise that I liked the feel of this cream. It left my face feeling still clean. So you don’t have to go to sleep with a face that feels like it’s covered in product.
Last, but not least, for ultimate moisturizing, I tried the Lierac Paris Premium The Supreme Mask. This is serious moisturizing! I’m not going to lie, this was too much for my face. I didn’t need this much moisture. You apply a thick layer of this cream on your face and just wipe it off after 5-10 minutes. You don’t wash it off like most other masks. This means that you are keeping a lot of that moisturizer on your face. If you have serious dry skin, I urge your to splurge on this product though. It packs a serious punch.
Nothing beats a Dermalogica facial at the spa. You always leave with skin that feels amazing. This month, I learned that sometimes it’s best to leave the serious skin care products to the professionals.
I was really excited to try the Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque. I love seriously deep cleaning masks and scrubs for my face. This one has volcanic ash. It doesn’t get much more serious than ingredients from a freaking volcano. It’s mean to clear up impurities and brighten dull skin.
When I applied this mask all over my face, I felt an instant tingling and tightening. All of the places on my face where I had little imperfections like acne tingle after just a few seconds of being cover by this black cream. I was glad that my skin was made of strong stuff because I feel like this wouldn’t be good if you have sensitive skin.
After rinsing the mask off, my skin was in need of a bit of moisture, like usual with masks. This time my face was quite red from the strength of the product.
It’s not often that I’m intimidated by a skin care product. This mask has made me think more carefully about products that I choose moving forward. I am usually pretty daring in the things I use on my face, but it’s also best to test out the strong stuff with the help of someone at the spa. I still would have tried this charcoal masque, but if I had sensitive skin this review could have gone a very different way.
We’ve been using a ton of masks lately and while we like most of them, it takes a lot to get one to stand out. L’Occitane has completely upped the mask game with the newest addition to their Divine line, the Divine Cream Mask. The mask comes with a little spoon so you don’t have to stick your fingers in the jar and a 24-carat gold applicator inspired by the immortelle flower which is the base of the mask.
You can use the mask as either a moisturizer or a mask experience. If you choose the mask experience, there’s a lot of steps to follow and you use the applicator. It basically turns it into a facial you can do at home but the instructions were really confusing to me at first. Luckily I found a video online to make things a little easier to understand, it’s at the bottom of this post.
While I love the idea of having a ritual to follow while using the mask, I don’t generally have the patience to do it that way very often. I’ve been using the mask for the most part as a moisturizer and sometimes as a regular mask without the applicator. Either way, the results have been fantastic. My skin is much more hydrated and I’ve noticed I look a lot more rested the next morning. There’s a post about the rest of the Divine line coming up and this cream mask is a good representation of how fantastic it is.
The summer we often forget about our skin, but a good mask can help bring back some moisture and smoothness after long days out in the sun. If you want to pamper yourself, try these interesting new masks.
Eyeko Hydrogel Eye Patch – I’ve been spending late nights on the patio to take advantage of every minute of the warm weather. I found these little eye patches to erase the evidence of these late nights. Made for brightening eyes and reducing the look of stress and fatigue, these gel eye patches from eyeko are the next step in reducing bags. The gel patches are gooey and damp to apply. You leave them on for 30 minutes, so get ready with a show on Netflix to pass the time. I found they never quite stuck to my face, so I had to stay still and keep adjusting them to be in the right place. They are cooling, so if you want to soothe puffy eyes, these will definitely help. They are also very moisturizing, so they would be great for dry skin. For everything else, I’m not so sure. I didn’t notice a big change in any dark circles or fatigue. It didn’t hurt to try though, and I caught up on the next episode of Modern Family.
The Face Shop Paraffin Nutrition Nail Pack – This summer has been rough on my nails. I have been breaking them playing sports and digging in the garden. I’ve never heard of masks for my nails, but I am willing to try almost anything in the name of beauty. I thought these would be a full glove. I was surprised to see the little finger covers in the package. They were really moist and slippery and kind of hard to get on by myself. I made it work though and sat enjoying another episode of Modern Family while my nails soaked in the moisture. My fingers were left with an oily and slightly sticky feel after removing the pads that I couldn’t quite clean off. I tried to give myself a manicure after, but the nail polish didn’t want to stick to my newly moisturized nails. Whether the mask actually helped strengthen my brittle nails only time will tell, but it definitely gave my cuticles a much needed moisturizing and they look great!
Hada Labo Ultimate Anti-Aging Facial Mask – All the way from Japan this face mask is packed full of moisturizer. After long days on the beach, my face could use it! This cotton mask is packed with a full bottle of anti-aging serum. You might think they are exaggerating, but they aren’t. There is so much moisturizer all over this mask. When you put it on your face, it is soft, wet and cooling. My face isn’t that dry, so this mask was a bit overkill for me. When I removed the mask I was supposed to just rub in the moisturizer, but not rinse it off. I followed the instructions, but part of me really wanted to wipe it off. The next day my face was still extremely moist. This will be great to keep around for those dry winter months.
Royal Apothic Cuppa Cuppa Exfoliating Firming Tea Mask – There is something to be said about a face mask that is quick and easy, especially when your summer days are so busy. This little tube of firming face mask is packed full of four different teas and coffee just like you will be drinking to relax. This mask is very thin compared to most others, so it takes more to give your face good coverage. It doesn’t harden like you imagine if you have used a lot of other face masks. Even though it’s thin, this makes gives your face a soft finish in just 10 minutes. It’s perfect as part of your prep to get ready for a busy day or night on the town, even if you don’t have a lot of time.
Scrub off winter with one of these face masks that will give your skin a great start to spring!
Nip + Fab Masks
I tried both the Bee Sting Lifting Mask and Dragon’s Blood Fix Mask. The names sound cool and intense, but these masks were quite soft on my skin. I didn’t really like the gel texture of both face masks. I prefer cream masks that dry while you wear them, but these stay moist the whole time. They don’t give you that tingly clean feeling while you are waiting. The Bee Sting mask had a bit of a tingle, but nothing like I expected. When I rinsed them off, my face looked a bit refreshed, but not super clean like some other masks. While these masks were good, the names got my expectations way too high. Instead I got a regular gel face mask.
Caudalie Moisturizing Mask
Did your skin take a beating from the cold winter? If you need moisture, than this mask is going to be exactly what you need. After using this soft mask, my face has never ever felt so moisturized. It felt soft and plump. Even a few days after using the mask I could still feel the dewy effects. This is exactly what you need to shake off winter.
Proactiv Skin Purifying Mask
The transition to spring has been tough on my skin, so I followed in the footsteps of so many celebrity spokespeople with this Proactiv mask. This is a strong mask for deep cleaning. It goes on thick. Really thick! It dries well and gives you are great scrub when you wash it off. It seemed it tighten up my pores very well and brought out some acne that was lying under the surface. In the end though my face feels best and I can’t wait to keep using it!
Lush Mask Of Magnaminty Face And Body Mask
This Lush mask has everything I want in a mask. It is thick with those exfoliating bits (in this case they are aduki beans) to help scrub everything clean. It dries on your skin to help pull everything out of your pores with a mix of peppermint and clay. It even has ingredients to help calm redness. It’s tough without being overpowering. Unlike some other Lush masks, you don’t even have to keep this one in the fridge. Of all of the masks, this is the one that I will be keeping close at hand!
Face masks sometimes feel like they are a dime a dozen, but you can tell when you get the Skyn Iceland Face Gels that they are something different. The package promises less wrinkles and creases in minutes.
From the looks of the packaging, I thought they were going to be complicated and difficult to apply, but these Face Gels are simple. Skyn Iceland has created masks that aren’t all gooey, messy and sticky. These are thin, dry pads that stick to your face without messing up your hands. You just peel off the back sticker and apply to your forehead, smile lines or under your eyes.
I fell instantly in love with the cooling sensation from the pads. It was so relaxing after a long day at work. I used them in all of the right places to feel calm with these cooling pads on my face. As I put my feet up and let the pads do their work, I noticed that they didn’t tug or get stiff like some masks. I could feel them there, but they were never uncomfortable.
After 10 minutes, I went back to the bathroom to remove the pads. There was no tugging or ripping on my skin. They peeled off with no pain. It’s not like those other pads that peel the dirt off of your skin. These slide off and leave your skin feeling soft and moist. My skin has never felt better. It feels so soft that I can’t stop touching it. I don’t really think I have wrinkles, but even my skin feels unbelievably smooth after using these little pads. Under my eyes does feel tighter, leading me to believe that if I did have wrinkles, I would be praising the miracle properties of Skyn Iceland even more. For now I will keep on relaxing with these cool pads on my face and fight wrinkles before they start.
After you hear all of these amazing things about the Skyn Iceland Face Gels, you probably won’t believe me when I tell you that you can get a bag full of all the gels you need for under $20!
Some people might have sensitive skin, but others want to get extreme clean. Just the name Rodial Super Acids made my tired, dull, uneven skin shudder. With names like X-treme After-Party Scrub and X-treme Acid Rush Peel, I knew this was serious skin care.
I waited for the right day to try the Hangover Mask and After-Party Scrub. I wanted to give these products a chance befitting of their name. I was surprised when I started to apply. I was surprised that while they might be called Super Acid X-treme, but they didn’t feel intense on my skin. The mask actually felt very soft and moisturizing without that tingle you get from some masks.
While I may have not felt any better in my head after applying, I did look better. My skin was dewy, moisturized and fresh. I could have gone to work without anyone knowing the difference.
Next up was the Pore Shrinking Pads. These pads are supposed to shrink your pores for smoother looking skin. I love the tingly feeling they leave on my cheeks after using them. So far, I think my pores look the same, but my face feels great after using them.
I saved the best for last: The Acid Rush Peel! I was understandably cautious and nervous. The word peel frightens me just a little. I applied it one night though. This instantly started tingling on my skin. My face felt like it was humming in some small pinprick sections. It didn’t stay tingly though. It would come and go in different areas. I assume it was as it worked its magic. It is strange because the peel is clear, so you can’t see it on your face. It doesn’t tighten or anything. It’s just the little tingles reminding you it’s there.
I washed it off about 13 minutes later anxiously. I was surprised at how moisturized my face felt. I thought the peel wouldn’t rinse off and then I realized that was the feeling of my soft skin. My face wasn’t red or irritated like I had planned. I looked almost the same, but just a bit better. My pores looked a little smaller and my face was a little brighter. I can see how with regular usage of twice a week, you would have amazing skin in no time. My boyfriend told me that I looked more beautiful after using it, which is a sure way to tell if you have a winner.
If you could only get one product from the line, I would definitely recommend the peel, but only if you have strong skin.
