Spring is coming to an end, and it’s time to get a few last makeup products before you are in full summer mode. Try one of these new products before the heat gets turned up!
Gosh Brow Sculpting Fibre Gel
Unlike a lot of girls I know, I just can’t get excited about my brows. I’ve tried. I was blessed with brows that don’t need to be filled in and also don’t need to be trimmed, other than the occasional stray. The Gosh Brow Sculpting Gel helped me turn my lucky natural brows into a face defining feature. It held those strays in place while making my brows look more defined and put the focus there. It does it’s just well, I’m just not sure this is the look that I personally want. We will put this in the maybe pile.
Quo Cushion Concealer
What more can be said about the Quo Cushion Concealer that hasn’t been said about any other concealer. This isn’t a bad product, but it does it’s job without making much of a scene or really being exceptional. I like the twist up cushion applicator, even though sometimes I find these types of applicators a bit gross. They tend to get dirty fast from touching your face every day. The makeup is tricky. It has a bit of a light reflecting shine, so I found it was most effective under the eyes. When I applied it on other blemishes, it covered up the colour, but made the spot more noticeable. It was obvious that I was trying to conceal something. It I applied it under foundation it was great, but then I didn’t really need it, did I?
Lise Watier CC Crème
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a new CC crème to the market. Lise Watier released this one to the market recently to do double duty as a colour correcting cream and moisturizer. It definitely does both. It’s like your most trusted moisturizer turned into a foundation. It has some of the best properties of both. People who are loyal to heavy coloured foundations won’t be able to stick with just this, but I like it as a happy medium that allows me to apply just one layer or product to my face. Otherwise it’s pretty no fuss.
Wander Beauty Carryon Lip and Cheek Gel
If you haven’t discovered Wander Beauty yet, it’s a really interested brand that makes travel makeup. The lip and cheek gel is the perfect refresher to give you colour without taking up any space in your bag. The crayon is a shimmery pink that is perfect to highlight your lips and cheeks after a day in the sun. It gave me just the right hue that matched bronzed colour.
I like the idea of these contour kits that give you all the powders that you need in one place, but Gosh is joining my contour game pretty late. I have spent the past year trying contour kits from every other brand and I only just got the Gosh palette now. Trying to get me to change my favourites at this point is a challenge.
The first thing that I notice is that the colours in this palette all seem to have a bit of a golden sparkle. Luckily for me, that tone suits me, but be careful if gold isn’t your colour. Even though gold suits me, I don’t always want to sparkle. That kept me away from this makeup kit more than anything else.
I want to contour, but not to sparkle. The powders themselves are ok. The darker contouring powder was too dark for me, so I was thankful for two options.
The blush and the highlighter gave me the glow I expected. Overall this palette was ok, but as I said it’s coming last in the contour trend and I already have my makeup bag favourites set. If it isn’t offering me something new, I don’t know why I would replace it.
Fall is really my favourite time of year for makeup. I love the warmness of the shades and I love that you can play around with different finishes and colour combinations. Other than fall nail polish, fall eyeshadow is my absolute favourite, so these are our Most Wanted Fall Eyeshadows Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Synergy
This metallic copper bronze shadow just screams fall to me. I’ve gotten to the point where I generally like single shadows better than a palette because I can mix and match. Kat Von D’s Metal Crush shadows are some of my favourites because they’re so creamy and blendable and I find there’s minimal fallout. They also have incredible staying power for a metallic shadow, especially if you use a primer first. I have two Metal Crush shades I love an insane amount and Synergy is one of them. Paul & Joe Eye Color CS 102 Les Feuilles Morte
If you’re going to do a post on fall eyeshadow, you have to include one where the shades are inspired by autumn leaves. You can wear each shade of this trio individually, but if you mix them together you get this gorgeous dark rose gold. I love Paul & Joe’s packaging, especially the limited edition designs and the light paper packaging. You just have to be careful not to leave it too close to the sink or get it wet. Lise Watier Chic & Rustique Palette
I adore Lise Watier’s palettes, especially around the fall and holiday seasons and I especially love this one. Three of the shades are matte and three are shimmery. The colours range could be the definition of fall, with green, rust and brown. What sets these shadows apart is that their formula is half cream and half powder, so you get the best of both. They’re really creamy and blendable and there’s virtually zero fallout. Quo Cosmetics Clean Sweep Eyeshadow Palette
If you’re looking for shades that aren’t typically fall, this Clean Sweep palette might be what you want. With shades ranging from gold to grey to blue, there are a ton of options for different looks here. The shadows are a little on the powdery side, so you’ll need a primer to get good coverage but this palette is a great option for someone who loves to play with different shadows. GOSH 9 Shades – To Be Cool In Copenhagen
To Be Cool In Copenhagen is pretty much my essential matte palette. It has a great range of shades from nudes, to browns to black which makes it something I use on an almost daily basis, even if I’m using it as a base under other shadows. The shadows are powdery but not chalky and they’re a good size for a palette. There are a few other palettes in the 9 Shades collection but I really like this one the best and can see myself replacing it if it ever runs out.
There’s really nothing more quintessentially fall than a red lip and there are a ton of them to choose from. These are our Most Wanted reds for fall. GOSH Velvet Touch Lipstick in Matte Classic Red
This red is definitely what I think of when I picture a classic red and I love the matte formula. It’s not drying but does a good job of staying put. It’s a gorgeous shade for a timeless look. Cover Girl LipPerfection Lipcolour in Hot
Another classic red, Hot is a little on the creamier side and is really flattering on even my very fair skin tone. You might want to use a lipstick primer with this one, it doesn’t have the greatest staying power but I expect that from a lipstick this soft. L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Pure Reds in Julianne’s Red
Of all the shades in the Pure Reds collection, I was instantly drawn to this coral-red and it makes sense considering I have relatively similar colouring to Julianne Moore. If you’re on the fair side and a classic red is too much for you, this is a great alternative. Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Canadian Flare
A collaboration between Smashbox, Flare Magazine and artist Donald Robertson; this coral red was inspired by the Canadian flag. It’s a little on the sheer side, so you can layer to get the effect you want. Canadian Flare is really moisturizing and comfortable to wear. byTERRY Terrybly Velvet Rouge Liquid Velvet Lipstick in My Red
For the liquid lipstick fans, My Red is a classic matte red that smells like roses. The unique ergonomic applicator takes a little getting used to but the payoff is huge. It lasts for hours and while it’s not transfer proof, you don’t have to reapply constantly. It’s also a lot less drying than I expected from a matte, liquid lipstick.

Lip Crayons are probably my favourite type of lipstick but there’s always something missing. Maybe the pigmentation is never really quite what I want it to be. Or they have a weird scent. With GOSH’s Forever Lip Shines, I finally have everything I want in a crayon. There’s no scent or flavour, there are numerous shades to pick from and the pigmentation is insane. The tip on these twist up crayons is slightly pointed so you can outline your lips and then fill them in.
And just look at the colours in this swatch. These are all one swipe of colour. My favourite shade is Magic Monday, it’s the perfect bright coral for spring. Forever Lip Shine is definitely not transfer-proof but you don’t have to reapply constantly. They’re also not as shiny as you’d expect and leave you with almost a matte feel but they’re so comfortable that you basically forget you’re wearing lipstick.
GOSH has finally given me the lip crayon I’ve been waiting for.
Your favourite affordable makeup line is now making hair dye. We got the chance to dye our hair with the new Gosh Cream Hair Colour line. I used the Dark Brown shade to give me a slightly darker tint that would help bring out my green eyes.
The steps to dying your hair with Gosh’s hair dye are exactly the same as all of your other home hair dye kits. There is nothing different in terms of the application. My hair is a lot longer than the last time I dyed it so I was nervous whether it would cover it all, but it did. It isn’t runny either. The dye really sticks to your hair so it feels like it is getting in there.
The room where I was dying my hair doesn’t have any windows. I was really impressed by how little I smelled the Gosh hair dye. The smell didn’t get overpowering, even without a lot of ventilation.
When I was rinsing out the hair dye, I really didn’t like the way it made my hair feel. It felt gummy and sticky and stiff in my hair. I was worried it would never wash out right. It did eventually, but it took me a few days and shampoos to feel better.
Unlike other reviews that I read, this dye did give my hair great multi-dimensional colour. I was surprised to see the flicker of other colours in the rich dark brown. My hair looks gorgeous.
The absolute best part about this hair dye is the price. For just $9.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada it’s amazing value!
We tried a few products from Gosh Cosmetics latest makeup collection. Find out which ones made it into our most wanted list.
Mineral Powder – I have honestly used this powder almost every single day since I received it. The colour is so natural looking and perfect. It stays on all day. It leaves my face with a beautiful matte finish. Gosh Mineral Powder is official one of my most wanted makeup!
Defining Brow Gel – This is like mascara for your brows that helps to darken and define the hairs, while keeping them in place. I found this a little tricky to use. It wasn’t shaped the right way to allow me to use it properly. I would rather just use a brow pencil and a clear gel, so I have more control.
Double Precision Mascara – I am so over double ended mascara. This one is made with the same thin brush for lower lashes and thick brush for longer lashes. The problem is I find them very hard to hold. The balance on the brush is all wrong. The mascara itself works great, but it’s the brush I don’t like.
No one likes pores! Every woman wishes they had beautiful poreless skin. Here are three products that offer very different ways to get poreless skin in a few minutes.
Gosh Prime’n Set Primer & Mattifying Setting Powder
The name might be a mouthful, but using this powder is easy. After you apply all of your makeup the final step should be to dust a fine layer of this white powder on your face to minimize the look of pores. It also claims to control shine, give you a matte finish, control moisture, hold makeup in place and reduce redness. I’m not sure if it’s really reducing the look of my pores, but after I apply it my face does look great.
The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Perfector
This light primer is a great base to give you a flawless complexion. The Body Shop’s primer doesn’t just reduce your pores. It makes your face feel velvety soft first. It then reduces the size of pores along with shine and blemishes. It’s really light on your face too, so you won’t feel like you are wearing too much makeup.
Shu Uemura Poreraser Mousse
If you really want to get rid of all pores, this mousse is the exact thing you need. When you apply this mousse as the first step to your makeup for oily skin, your pores completely disappear. Apply a light foundation to get the perfect look. The only problem with this mousse is pretty sticky. You need to wait a while to let it set and dry before applying anything else. If you have extra time, it’s worth the wait.
Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Foundation Primer I already loved the Photo Finish primers from Smashbox, but this Pore Minimizing one wins hands down. Not only does it prep your skin for makeup like the other do, but as you apply it, you can actually see your pores disappearing and the effect lasts all day. As an added bonus, its oil-free so you don’t have to worry about getting greasy while you’re wearing it.
