Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Box
Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick is really the product that got me hooked on matte liquid lipstick and inspired this series. The Holiday Lolita Lip Duo was the first time I tried an Everlasting Liquid Lipstick and to say I was obsessed with them might be an understatement. I’ve tried more shades since then and I haven’t been disappointed yet.

For this post we tried four shades, L-R: Lovesick (mauve nude), Lolita (chestnut rose), Double Dare (cocoa blush) and Nosferatu (blood crimson). Lolita is the cult fave shade that everyone seems to love, Lovesick has been my go to summer shade and I’ve been loving Double Dare a lot. I have a feeling Nosferatu will be a big fall/winter shade for me. The formula is basically exactly what you’d expect; a thin, liquid that dries down extremely fast (go quick if you need to fix anything). There is a slightly sticky feel for a minute but once it’s completely dried, it goes away.

The brush is fairly typical but the bottle is long and slim and so far the easiest for me to lose in my purse. As far as wear time, I can go hours without a touch up but if I’m eating or drinking I notice that the inside part of my lips wear off first. Everlasting Liquid Lipstick can be a little drying and you definitely want to exfoliate your lips first because it’ll show everything. With 28 shades available, you definitely won’t have any trouble picking one (or five) that you’ll love.

Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Matte Long Wear Lipstick

I’m not a huge fan of lipstick, or I wasn’t until matte liquid lipstick became a thing and now I wear a lot more than I ever have before. Since I’m loving the formula, I decided to do a series on the matte liquid lipstick world and see which ones worked the best for me. We’re kicking it off with Too Faced’s Melted Matte.

We tried six shades L-R: Miso Pretty (soft pink), Child Star (soft nude), Sell Out (pinky-brown), Feelin’ Myself (peachy-pink), Lady Balls (true red) and Evil Twin (deep black cherry), The lipsticks are a pretty substantial size with a pretty typical doe foot wand that makes it easy to apply. The formula though is a little different. It’s extremely creamy and is infused with avocado oil and vitamin E to keep your lips comfortable. It also has Volulip in it to give your lips a little non-tingly plump.

Melted Matte really doesn’t take long to dry and once it does, it feels like your not wearing anything. I’ve gone a good six hours without even checking if I had to reapply and unless I was doing a ton of eating, I barely noticed a difference. Once these dry down there’s very little transfer as well. My biggest issue is that I wish there were some brighter, summery shades, but I’ve been wearing Feelin’ Myself pretty much non-stop and I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on it.

I started off with Melted Matte because it’s by far my favourite of the matte liquid lipsticks that we’ll be featuring. I’m just hoping they introduce more shades.

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick
Most of us who love lipstick will probably reluctantly admit that it’s usually not the most comfortable thing to wear. Especially if it’s matte. I put off trying Maybelline’s Vivid Matte Liquid for a couple reasons. 1. We have a ton of lipstick to review right now and 2. My lips are completely dried out from winter and I was scared to throw another matte lipstick on them. Now that I’ve tried Vivid Matte Liquid, I wish I had started using it right away.

This is quite possibly the most comfortable lipstick I’ve ever tried. The formula is really creamy and it’s sort of like putting actual butter on your lips and it leaves a really pillowy feeling. Of course being that creamy, it takes some practise to get your lipstick looking right. The trick is to start in the middle of your lips and work your way out.

The colours are extremely pigmented and most are really vivid like the name suggests. Of the four I tried (there are ten all together), Nude Flush was the only one that wasn’t bright. These lipsticks don’t completely dry like a true matte, so there’s quite a bit of colour transfer but even when these do wear off, there’s a bit of a stain left behind. The plus side is, they don’t get cakey when you reapply because they’re so smooth.

If you want to feel like you have pillows on your lips, you need to try this lipstick.

Essence Liquid Lipstick

I’ve been trying to wear a lot more lipstick lately and I’ve been firmly on the matte lipstick train but some days my lips need a break from how drying they can be. Essence’s Liquid Lipsticks are kind of the complete opposite of a matte liquid lipstick. They’re pigmented like a lipstick but go on like a gloss.

These super affordable lipsticks have a doe foot applicator that make application pretty easy and come in six shades. While they are definitely more like a gloss than a lipstick, there isn’t any stickiness until they start to wear off, and then they get pretty sticky. But unlike a gloss, they keep their colour really well. Wear time is only about an hour or so on me. My biggest issue with these lipsticks is that they move. I’m constantly checking my lips to see where the colour ended up and that ends up with me wiping product off the skin around my lips. Considering these have a bit of a stain to them, that’s an issue for me.

That said, if you’re looking for an affordable alternative to a matte liquid lipstick, you should really give these a try. Make A Statement (06) is my favourite shade.

Kat Von D Holiday Most Wanted

Kat Von D Holiday
Kat Von D always has great gift sets for the holidays and this year is no exception but these two are my personal favourites this year.
Lolita Lip Duo

If you’ve never tried Kat Von D’s Lolita lipstick, there’s a reason the chestnut rose shade is a cult fave. In the Lolita Lip Duo you get two mini Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks in both Lolita and the newer Lolita II (terra cotta nude).

While these are considered mini, they still hold quite a bit of product and you really don’t need to use much (the swatches are one swipe). So you could, in theory, give this as a gift but you’re really going to want to keep these for yourself.
Mi Vida Loca Remix Eyeshadow Palette
Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Eyeshadow Palette
While everyone obsesses over the Naked palettes, I’ve always been a much bigger fan of Kat Von D’s palettes. The shades are always extremely pigmented and there’s a lot less fallout. Not to mention there’s a whole lot more choice of colour. Mi Vida Loca Remix has 24 shades.
Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Open
I love this palette because it has every shade I could ever need. I don’t have to get my neutral shades from one palette and bright shades from another. Plus because they blend so well, there isn’t a single shade I won’t try. You can make a bright shade more subtle by blending and make a neutral shade more intense.

My only issue with Mi Vida Loca Remix is how huge it is, storage will be an issue and it gets stored in a sleeve, so you can’t technically close it. The shades though, are enough for me to love it anyways.

Rimmel Provocalips 16HR Kissproof Lip Colour

Rimmel Provocalips
At one point or another we’ve all used those long wearing lipsticks with colour on one end and a clear balm on the other. But they used to be way too drying. Luckily makeup has changed and Rimmel’s Provocalips are just one of the new developments that gives us long wearing, transferproof lipstick that actually lasts and doesn’t leave our lips completely dried out. With ten shades to pick from Provocalips has you covered from subtle to dramatic.

My favourite shades are Make Your Move and Play With Fire, but I liked all four shades we were sent. You put the colour on first, let it dry for a minute and then add the top coat. And you’ll definitely need to reapply the clear top coat to keep your lips hydrated. And that is where my problem came in.

These lipsticks leak. A lot. I left them lying on my counter among other makeup on their sides and when I went back for them everything surrounding them was covered. My counter, other makeup, my hands when I tried to pick them up. Since they’re waterproof, cleanup was not easy. So while I really like these lipsticks, I’m not willing to throw them in my purse to take with me since I now keep them upright at all times. Which means I can’t reapply the top coat when I’m out, so wearing them out really isn’t an option for me.

I’d love to find a way to fix the leaking issue because I would get a ton of wear out of these if I could take them with me.
