Most Wanted Fall Eyeshadow

Fall is really my favourite time of year for makeup. I love the warmness of the shades and I love that you can play around with different finishes and colour combinations. Other than fall nail polish, fall eyeshadow is my absolute favourite, so these are our Most Wanted Fall Eyeshadows
Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Synergy
kat-von-d-metal-crush-shadow-synergy
This metallic copper bronze shadow just screams fall to me. I’ve gotten to the point where I generally like single shadows better than a palette because I can mix and match. Kat Von D’s Metal Crush shadows are some of my favourites because they’re so creamy and blendable and I find there’s minimal fallout. They also have incredible staying power for a metallic shadow, especially if you use a primer first. I have two Metal Crush shades I love an insane amount and Synergy is one of them.
Paul & Joe Eye Color CS 102 Les Feuilles Morte
paul-and-joe-eye-color-cs-102-les-feuilles-mortes
If you’re going to do a post on fall eyeshadow, you have to include one where the shades are inspired by autumn leaves. You can wear each shade of this trio individually, but if you mix them together you get this gorgeous dark rose gold. I love Paul & Joe’s packaging, especially the limited edition designs and the light paper packaging. You just have to be careful not to leave it too close to the sink or get it wet.
Lise Watier Chic & Rustique Palette
lise-watier-palette-chicrustique
I adore Lise Watier’s palettes, especially around the fall and holiday seasons and I especially love this one. Three of the shades are matte and three are shimmery. The colours range could be the definition of fall, with green, rust and brown. What sets these shadows apart is that their formula is half cream and half powder, so you get the best of both. They’re really creamy and blendable and there’s virtually zero fallout.
Quo Cosmetics Clean Sweep Eyeshadow Palette

If you’re looking for shades that aren’t typically fall, this Clean Sweep palette might be what you want. With shades ranging from gold to grey to blue, there are a ton of options for different looks here. The shadows are a little on the powdery side, so you’ll need a primer to get good coverage but this palette is a great option for someone who loves to play with different shadows.
GOSH 9 Shades – To Be Cool In Copenhagen
gosh-9-shades-to-be-cool-in-copenhagen-open
To Be Cool In Copenhagen is pretty much my essential matte palette. It has a great range of shades from nudes, to browns to black which makes it something I use on an almost daily basis, even if I’m using it as a base under other shadows. The shadows are powdery but not chalky and they’re a good size for a palette. There are a few other palettes in the 9 Shades collection but I really like this one the best and can see myself replacing it if it ever runs out.

Lise Watier Hydraforce BB

lise-watier_hydraforce_bbcreme_clair

Lise Watier is changing the way that you think about BB creams. When you see the words BB, you probably think more of a foundation type product. Other BB creams have coverage from light to full coverage giving you a different option from your regular foundation combo. Lise Watier’s Hydraforce BB isn’t like that.

When you go on their website, you might have a hard time finding it, because this BB isn’t in makeup, it’s in skincare.

Lise Watier has made a BB cream that is ready to protect your skin first. This cream is really moisturizing. It has a slight tint in it, but it’s not enough for any kind of coverage. Look elsewhere if you want to hide blemishes or discolouration. This is all about moisture.

I did find that Lise Watier’s BB cream made my face a bit shiny. I know that is part of the product giving me a healthy glow, but it’s too shiny for my liking.

If you need a new tinted moisturizer, I would recommend giving this a try, just know that it’s a moisturizer.

Lise Watier Neiges Eau Frâiche

Lise Watier Neiges Eau Fraiche BoxFinding a good summer scent can be hard. You want to smell good but don’t want something overpowering. A lot of companies release alcohol free versions of popular scents for summer and we have one of those. Lise Watier’s Neiges is a pretty iconic Canadian perfume and their summer version Neiges Eau Frâiche is lovely as well.
Lise Watier Neiges Eau Fraiche
This alcohol free version can be used on both your hair and body and has a really light, slightly powdery scent. It has top notes of hyacinth, lily of the valley, rose and jasmine; middle notes of magnolia and orange blossom and bottom notes of sandalwood and musk. Leaving you with a really soft floral scent with a hint of something mysterious.

I haven’t used a lot of Lise Watier’s fragrances in the past but I’m really enjoying Neige Eau Frâiche quite a bit. I’m looking forward to trying other scents from the brand.

Lise Watier Majestique Holiday 2015 Collection

Lise Watier Majestique Holiday 2015
We know it’s a little late to be posting a holiday collection but to be fair we didn’t receive the Lise Watier Majestique collection until a couple days before Christmas. Luckily, all of these products are still available on the Lise Watier website and you can probably find some in Shoppers Drug Mart as well. This collection is pretty big, with lots of colour choices and we got to try a good chunk of it.
Lise Watier Palette Majestique Luxury Lady
There are two palettes in this collection and we got to try Luxury Lady. I’m completely obsessed with this palette. It’s a great neutral palette with both lighter and darker shades. But it’s the texture of the eyeshadows that blows me away.
Lise Watier Luxury Lady Swatches
They’re all extremely pigmented and so creamy that it just takes one swipe of a brush to get full coverage. They blend beautifully as well. I’ve been using this palette almost exclusively for a couple weeks and I haven’t even made a dent in it.
Lise Watier Ombre Souffle Supreme in Love Spell
Ombre Soufflé Suprême in Love Spell is so light and airy that you’re going to want to use your fingers. I don’t recommend it though, if you want to get any kind of colour on your lids you need a brush. It’s a gorgeous shade though, and makes a great base colour.
Lise Watier Majestique Lips
I love the amount of options there are for lips. There’s Haute Couleur Full Coverage Lip Lacquer in Royal Couture, which is not only long lasting and not sticky but it has a light in the cap which makes application in darker areas a breeze. Next up in Rouge Gourmand in Fortune Cookie. This is my favourite of the bunch. It’s so creamy and easy to wear and it’s a great neutral shade. Last is Rouge Gourmand Velours in Fatal Potion. If you love a dark, matte lip, this is a great option since it’s extremely comfortable to wear.

I’ve never tried a Lise Watier nail polish before and Red Heart was a great place to start. A classic red, it had great opacity and was pretty good with tip wear.
Lise Watier Red Heart Swatch
I just wish the bottle was a little bigger because it was a little hard to work with.

This is one of my favourite holiday collection from last year. I always forget how much I love Lise Watier products until I start using new ones. But since Luxury Lady is in heavy rotation in my eyeshadow drawer, I think I’ll be remembering more often.

August Makeup Most Wanted

Summer is almost over, but instead of being sad, I am preparing. I am getting ready for fall with a whole bunch of new products that are getting my skin ready for the cold weather coming. Bring it on fall because these products are my secret weapons this month.

Lise Watier Extreme Hold CC Eye Primer

Lise Watier Extreme Hold CC Eye Primer – I’ve become a little obsessed with this Lise Watier eye primer. This tinted cream is applied on the eye lid to smooth out the skin. It instantly helps correct the colour of your lids for a great finish. It gets rid of any dark circles or redness around your eyes. You can apply eye shadow over top to help it stay all day long, but my favourite thing is just to leave it bare. You make not have noticed just how much darker your eye lids are, but the difference this primer makes is amazing. It has totally transformed my look and routine from my everyday look to getting glam. If you are lucky you can add the Lise Watier Intense Waterproof Eyeliner and EYEvolution Dramatique Intense 3D Volume Mascara for the perfect eyes!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet

The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet – This Limited Edition gel moisturizer is perfect for the dog days of summer. It’s so cooling on my skin for a refreshing start to the day. The gel formula hydrates your face without leaving it feeling too wet and greasy. My skin gets oily quickly, especially in the summer, but this moisturizer helped my skin stay more matte. Some of my favourite moisturizers are too heavy for summer, but this was the perfect replacement. I hope it comes back every summer.

Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Moisturizing Body Cream

Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Moisturizing Body Cream – I have been getting really excited about new natural ingredients in my beauty products and sea buckthorn is starting to get a lot of buzz. This body cream has a bit of a weird smell, similar to cleaning products. Just learn to love it, because this body cream is great. It leaves your skin feeling so soft. My skin feels baby soft. Also if you have dry or irritated, the lovely little sea buckthorn is there to get rid of redness, dry patches and other skin issues. There is also a face cream (and a whole line of body care and shower products) for an added bonus if you want even more skin love.

Laboratoires Filorga Optim-Eyes

Laboratoires Filorga Optim-Eyes – I have lately been a bit addicted to trying a lot of different eye creams. It must be a result of worrying about getting old. There has been quite a few of duds, but the Laboratoires Filorga Optim-Eyes Cream really stood out from the crowd. My eyes are looking so great. Forget about dark circles, puffiness and sad looking eyes. They are a thing of the past. My eyes look younger, tighter and more alert.

Makeup Most Wanted July 2015 – Alyssa’s Picks

July 2015 Most Wanted
Toronto’s in a heatwave this week so I’ve been wearing the bare minimum of makeup but that definitely doesn’t reflect my whole month. These were my necessities for July.
NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Pasiphae
NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Pasiphae
This is a brand new shade from NARS for fall and I’ve only seen it in one store on a shopping trip to Buffalo. I must have walked past it six times, each time thinking how pretty it was and how I needed it and boy does it live up to what I expected. I couldn’t get a photo to show how truly gorgeous this shimmery burgundy green is. I love that it’s got completely different finishes when used wet or dry. This is definitely my latest obsession.
Stila Stay All Day Precision Glide Brow Pencil in Blonde
Stila Stay All Day Precision Glide Brow Pencil in Blonde
I definitely don’t fill in my brows nearly as often as I should considering they’re almost white. But I do love a brow pencil and Stila’s Precision Glide in Blonde is perfect for me. It looks completely natural, is easy to use and lasts until I take it off. Which is in this heat is fantastic because who wants to worry about their eyebrows sliding off?
derma-e Microdermabrasion Scrub
derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub
My skin always feels more clogged in the summer because of all the sweating and this scrub makes it feel so much better. It’s really light and gentle but grainy enough that you actually feel it doing something. Plus it only takes a minute and lemon scent is amazing.
Lise Watier Rivages Bronzing Powder
Lise Watier Rivages Bronzing Powder
I’m so fair that half the time even the lightest shades of foundation are too dark for me. So needless to say bronzers don’t really work for me. Rivages Bronzing Powder is one of the first that doesn’t make me look like a Kardashian, so when I want a little colour I use this with a light hand for a nice glow.
Marcelle Cleansing Cloths
Marcelle Cleansing Cloths
Because I don’t want my makeup a sweaty mess in the summer, I use a ton of waterproof products, setting sprays, basically anything that’ll make it stick. That makes taking it off a real job. Marcelle’s Cleansing Cloths are fantastic at letting me take off my makeup without feeling like I’m taking off a layer of skin. These cloths are larger than most so I have more surface area to work with. They’re extremely soft and not too wet. I love that I don’t feel like I have a layer of film on my skin when I’m done and these get off even the most waterproof of mascaras.

Lise Watier Lift & Firm 3D Ultra Firming Rejuvenating Eye Cream

lise watier eye cream review

I am going to be honest and admit that I always thought eye creams were a money grab. I always assumed that you could use your regular moisturizer. I figured as I got older bags and dark circles were inevitable. I would still go through phases of using them just to entertain the idea that there was life without dark circles. For the first time ever, I am seeing real results thanks to Lise Watier.

I had this little eye cream for a long time before I started using it. Like I said, I didn’t have any faith in it, so why rush. I used it once or twice before I started to give it a real commitment. After I started using it regularly I started thinking, ‘Gee, I look good today’ or ‘Hmm, I look younger.’ I didn’t think much of it. That wasn’t until I started noticing that the dark circles I have had around my eyes for my entire life were getting lighter.

This wasn’t just age it was erasing, but darkness I can always remember having. The skin under my eyes looks and feels tighter as well. I wish I had a before and after picture, but I didn’t take a picture because I didn’t expect it to work.

I wouldn’t consider myself old just yet, but this Lise Watier eye cream is already making me look younger. As a part of the Lift & Firm 3D collection, I wish I had the other products in the line to see what else it could do for me!  I am ready for old age now! Nothing can stop these eyes!

Makeup Most Wanted 2014 – Alyssa’s Picks

This list of my Most Wanted makeup of 2014 could’ve been really really long and it was a struggle to narrow it down but these are the products I definitely used more than others.
Lancôme Grandiôse
Lancome-Grandiose-mascara
I’ve never used a product that actually lived up to all it’s hype like this one. Lancôme’s Grandiôse did everything I wanted it to and more. It’s super black, gets every single lash, lasts forever and I don’t need an eyelash curler. It’s going to take a lot for another mascara to beat this one for me.
Butter London Moisture Matte Lipstick in Macbeth
butterLondon Moisture Matte Lipstick Macbeth
Of all the coral lipsticks I tried this summer, nothing lasted in my purse anywhere near as long as Butter London’s Macbeth. It’s the most flattering shade and it’s so comfortable it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing lipstick while lasting for hours.
Maybelline Dream Wonder Liquid Touch Foundation
Maybelline DreamWonderFoundation
I’m not much of a foundation person but Maybelline’s Dream Wonder is amazing. A couple drops gave me even coverage and it’s really lightweight and comfortable. And it makes my skin look flawless.
Lise Watier Feline HD Eyeliner in Brun
Lise Watier Feline Eyeliner HD Brun
This Lise Watier pen eyeliner has already been one of my monthly picks but it’s so good that I had to put it on my Most Wanted of the year. It’s the easiest and smoothest pen I’ve used. I’ve literally never made a mistake with it and the brown is such a nice change from black liner.
Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette
Urban Decay Vice 3
If you read my original review of this palette, you know I was just a tiny bit excited about it. Not much has changed. This is the only eyeshadow palette I keep on my bathroom counter and I use it constantly. The colours are amazing and blend really well together. There are just so many options. I’m already dreading the day I run out of certain shades and I use it often enough that it could actually happen.

November Makeup Most Wanted – Steph’s Picks

november makeup most wanted

Check out what makeup we were coveting in my Most Wanted list this month:

Lise Watier Base Miracle – This is hands down one of the best primers that I have ever used. Watch as your face gets shine-free and matte before your eyes. Feel how silky smooth your skin is after applying. If you have been searching for a perfect primer, Lise Watier should be on your list.

The Body Shop Red Musk – I have a long history with The Body Shop’s musk perfumes. I’ve been wearing them since high school.  I didn’t think that they could ever beat the original fragrance, but Red Musk has finally done it. I adore this rich musk. It’s perfect for fall. I want to wrap up in it like a warm blanket.

Philosophy Micro Exfoliating Treatment – This is, honestly, the best at home exfoliator that I’ve ever used. This is a two-step process that first involves a micro-crystal exfoliator. These crystals have a lemony smell and scrub your face even with the lightest touch. Next, you apply the activating gel that turns it into a bit of a foam. Your face will feel slightly warm and continues to exfoliate with a bit of scrubbing. If you have sensitive skin, you can still use this treatment, you just avoid all of the scrubbing. When you wash it off your face is going to feel amazing! A few days later I was still surprised by how soft my face felt.

Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick – I’m over glossy lips. I love the look of sexy matte lips that lasts all day. Now Clinique has a whole line of matte lipsticks that last for hours in adorable colours. They are really soft and creamy, but give you that dry matte look. The Matte Petal pink shade is my favourite, but the Matte Suede is great for a hot nude.

Lancome Hypnose Dazzling Eyeshadow – These limited edition holiday eyeshadows are stunning for the season. They come in sparkling shades of black, gold or red depending on your tastes. I don’t usually like cream eyeshadows, and this feels like the perfect mix of cream meets powder. They are easy to apply soft enough to be day appropriate or you can layer it on for sparkle drama!

Lise Watier Portfolio Professional Corrector

Lise-WatierPortfolio_Regulier

This Lise Watier is one of Canada’s top correctors, so I needed to add it to my arsenal to see how it worked. The palette is made up of six colours of concealer targeted to different needs. There is a green for redness, beiges for contouring and under the eye and lavender for brightness.

Each of the colours does its job perfectly. In the morning I went through each step carefully to leave my skin looking great. The thing is, that it takes so long to go through each step and before getting this palette I didn’t think I needed it. It added steps to my morning routine, that I never felt like I needed. I don’t need every colour of this palette and other than makeup artists, I doubt many people do. It’s more likely you will need one or two of the colours. I would rather buy one of Lise Watier’s more targeted products and get more of what I need than this palette that offers a bit of everything.
