TreSemme 7 Day Keratin Smooth

tresemme shampoo

If you have some extra time and want gorgeous hair, we have discovered the new TreSemme 7 Day Keratin Smooth collection. If you aren’t one of those people who blow dries and flat irons their hair all of time, this is going to be different.

The line comes with a 7 Day Keratin Smooth Shampoo, Conditioner and Heat Activated Treatment. Using the three step system is easy. It’s the heat activation is the struggle. Since I have a lot of hair, I usually only blow dry and flat iron my own hair on the same day for very special occasions. I actually had the TreSemme line for a while before I found the time to spend the extra hour on my hair.

The shampoo and conditioner are the high quality that you would expect from this salon worthy brand. They have that salon smell that you can’t quite put your finger on. My hair doesn’t feel super squeaky clean, but strong and moisturized.

After the shower, you have to apply the Heat Activated Treatment to your damp hair. Then comes the work for me. You have to blow dry you hair until dry and then flat iron your hair afterwards. Some people won’t think that is that much work, but when you are used to wash and go hair, this seems like so much effort.

I have to say though, my hair looked amazing afterwards. It looked so long and sleek. My hair did feel a little bit strange. It wasn’t totally silky smooth. It was a bit, stiff and plastic. It wasn’t too bad. It was mostly near my roots where my hair felt strange. That strange feeling only lasted about 12 hours or so . Once I slept in it and brushed it enough it softened up. I don’t know what it was that made my roots stiff, but it was worth it.

For days afterwards, it looked great and I kept getting compliments on it.

The one thing they left out was what I had to do to keep this look going. It says it lasts for up to 3 washes. I didn’t know what that meant. Obviously after washing my hair, it wouldn’t stay straight and smooth without blow drying it and flat ironing it. Did I need to continue using the shampoo and conditioner? Could I use the line without blow drying it or would it all feel stiff? After one wash, it went back to its normal state.

TreSemme’s 7 Day Keratin Smooth collection is probably perfect for people who blow dry their hair all of the time. But I will just keep it for special occasions.

L’Oreal Professionnel Absolut Repair Lipidium Collection

We can’t really catch a break with our hair weather wise. In Toronto our hair goes humidity crazy in the summer and in the winter we get the dryness. Luckily L’Oreal Professionnel has a solution for us to save our hair in winter. The Absolut Repair Lipidium collection is filled with lipids, Phyto-Keratin and a bunch of other good stuff to make our hair stronger and softer.
L'Oreal Professionnel Absolut Repair Lipidum Shampoo
The shampoo is medium thick and gets a good lather. It didn’t dry out my hair and leave it with that squeaky feeling.
L'Oreal Professionnel Absolut Repair Lipidum Instant Restructuring Conditioner
The Absolut Repair Lipdium Instant Restructuring Conditioner is a lot lighter than I was expecting. Like, really light. But considering how skeptical I was of how well a conditioner this thin would work I was pleasantly surprised. If your hair isn’t too dry or damaged, this conditioner has you covered.
L'Oreal Professionnel Absolut Repauir Lipidum Masque
The star of the line for me though is the Instant Reconstructing Masque. Sometimes I’ll use it after the Restructuring Conditioner, sometimes after the shampoo and when my hair is really damaged I’ll use it by itself. I’ve never had winter hair as healthy as when I’ve used this masque. It also doesn’t seem like it’ll be too heavy in the summer.

If you need something to heal your dry, winter hair you might want to give this collection a try.

New Winter Products For Great Hair

In case we’ve never met in person, you should know that I have some pretty crazy hair. It’s big, it’s wild and it takes a lot to manage. I have found a few new products that have been keeping these locks in check while the winter winds are trying their best to break.

OGX keratin oil

OGX Keratin Oil Collection – This four step collection includes a shampoo, conditioner, 3 minute miraculous recovery mask and instant repair weightless healing oil. I don’t know if it is always like this, but the shampoo and conditioner in my bottles is seriously thick. It’s almost chunky. Ignore the weird texture though, because these products have an argan oil base that makes your hair so shiny and manageable. If you want some added help, try the 3 minute miraculous recovery mask. Unlike some other hair masks, it’s really easy to use in the shower as a part of your regular routine. It doesn’t try to change your routine. The Keratin Oil is perfect for right when you get out of the shower as the final step towards strong manageable hair.

LOreal-Paris-Wild-Stylers-Next-Day-Hair-spray

L’Oreal Professionnel Wild Stylers Next Day Hair – Everyone’s hair looks better the second day, and now I don’t have to wait for my hair to get that look. This hair spray gives your hair that second day matte feel without getting greasy or sticky. You can spray this on your hair without restraint until you get the look you want. It doesn’t make your hair feel weird, just look great. I found it was perfect for getting beach waves on a cold fall day.

fix-fabulous-160-400-176

Kerastase Fix Fabulous Extra Strong Hold Hair Spray – Kerastase has created a hair spray that is easier to use than the classic aerosol can with a simple pump. Instead of having that continuous spray, you can spray this hair spray directly onto where you need it. You can also spray it all around your head. It also eliminates frizz even on the worst of frizzy hair days.

L’Occitane Revitalizing Fresh Hair Care

My hair has never felt cleaner and I would like to thank L’Occitane for that. I had no expectation for the Aromachologie Revitalizing Fresh Shampoo and Detangling Spray when I got it. I had never used L’Occitane’s hair care products before.
Revitalizing fresh shampoo
The first thing you are going to notice about the Revitalizing Fresh Shampoo is that it has a very strong smell. It’s packed full of essential oils (thyme, cedar, lavender, mint and grapefruit) to give you hair a deep clean. That makes for quite a smell in the bottle. I actually warned the other people in my house about it, because I didn’t want them to get a shock if they used it.

The smell is worth it though, because my hair has never felt so clean. It has a light foaming that doesn’t get really bubbly when you lather it in, just enough to let you know that it is worked. As I rinsed the L’Occitane shampoo out of my hair, I could actually hear that my hair was squeaky clean.

There is no Conditioner in this hair care collection, so I wasn’t sure what my next step should be. My hair felt clean and soft, but I’ve never not used a conditioner on my thick, curly, unmanageable hair. I used my regular everyday conditioner, but I was instantly sad that I was covering up my freshly clean hair.
Revitalizing fresh detangling spray+
Post-shower and mornings after, I used the Detangling Spray on my hair. It has the same strong scent. I sprayed it all over my morning hair. My hair was definitely easier to brush after a quick spray. If you have thick hair like me ensure that you spray on top and underneath your hair to allow your brush to glide through easily. It works well enough, but I probably wouldn’t go out and buy it again like I will the shampoo.

If you need a seriously deep clean L’Occitane is going to get all of that residue out. Be warned though, delicate hair might not be able to stand up to this hardcore shampoo and the smell is really really strong. If you are tough and want something deep clean, this is hands down the best detoxifying shampoo that I’ve ever used.

OGX Coconut Water Hair Care Collection

Organix-Coconut-Water

Are you over the whole coconut hair and body products trend? I am not! I love the smell of coconut on my skin and body, so I was ecstatic to get more bottles of shampoo, conditioner and oil with the tropical scent of coconut.

The OGX Shampoo and Conditioner hydrate and nourish your hair well enough. The smell was, as you can expect, amazing in the shower. After it dried, I can’t say that I had anything to complain about. I also don’t really have anything to rave about other than the smell. My hair looked normal. It’s a good thing that it kept my hair in the same condition, but it was also a bit of a letdown that I didn’t come away with stunning shiny hair.

It’s the final step of this trio that really made me happy. The Weightless Hydration Oil is the final step to your hair. It is the same idea as many other hair oils. This OGX oil is light and gives your hair amazing shine. It also has that same coconut scent.

If you are like me and need a boost of tropical coconut, especially as the cold weather comes OGX has you covered.

O&M Hair Care Review

mini-minerals

The first time I visited O&M’s website, I was hooked. O&M stands for Original Mineral. This Australian hair care brand believes that your hair is better being free from stress. They started with clean hair colour, but their product range is so much more than that now.

Since I couldn’t choose just one or even two products, O&M’s brilliant publicist sent me their Mini Minerals collection that has five travel size products from the range. The set includes the Original Detox Shampoo, Hydrate & Conquer Shampoo, Hydrate & Conquer Conditioner, The Power Base Protein Masque and Seven Day Miracle Moisture Masque.

I started with the Detox shampoo to refresh my hair. The shampoo is minty and refreshing in the shower. It smells strong and made my scalp tingly. My hair felt clean, but not dry and stripped.

The Hydrate & Conquer line is more of your everyday shampoo & conditioner. It has a mellow scent and is packed full of vitamins. My hair loved the conditioner. I was surprised by how runny the O&M products were. They were almost watery in their consistency.

The masques were my final test. I loved these and so did my hair. They were thick and sweet smelling. They absorbed right into my hair when I applied them. I could almost feel my hair sucking in all of the nutrients. My hair felt silky smooth once it was all rinsed. I will be seriously disappointed when I run out of these minis.

Smooth Sexy Hair

Smooth Sexy Hair
The latest trend in hair product collections seems to either have the word rescue or repair in it. And while those do what they’re supposed to, I’m still occasionally left with a ton of frizz to deal with. Luckily Sexy Hair sent over part of their Smooth Sexy Hair collection. The smoothing shampoo and conditioner are both gluten, paraben, sulfate and salt free and loaded with coconut oil to help fight frizz.
And they absolutely work. But the star for me is the Frizz Eliminator. It’s a really runny serum styling product and once you figure out how much you need to use (quite a bit for me), your frizz literally disappears. It doesn’t get crunchy when it dries and leaves your hair extremely soft. Unlike other frizz products it doesn’t add any weight to your hair to load it down, which is actually a problem for me, I wish it added just a little bit.
If you want frizz free hair, this is definitely the collection for you.

Coloured Hair Most Wanted

Want to protect your coloured hair in the summer? It seems like everything in the summer from the sun to pools to smog is attacking your hair and making my new colour look dull. Here is what I have been using on my coloured hair to keep it looking great.

framesi shampoo

Framesi Color Lover Shampoo & Conditioner

I had never heard of this salon brand of shampoo and conditioner either, but Framesi gives you a more natural way to care for coloured hair. I’ve been using the Smooth Shine collection and it’s actually making my colour look better than before. I didn’t even know that was possible. I love the list of ingredients that includes quinoa, aloe vera and coconut oil. I wouldn’t eat weird ingredients, so why would I put it on my hair.

precious oils

L’Oreal Paris Precious Oils Color Radiance

You probably already use some kind of oil on your hair either before you wash, after or during styling, but none of them takes care of your colour like this one. L’Oreal’s Color Radiance Oil does the same things as all of those other hair oils, while protecting your colour and making it really pop too. Use it with care to handle frizz without greasy summer locks. Use it with a light hand though because it can go greasy in the summer, so less is more.

marc anthony conditioner

Marc Anthony Miracle Frizz-Smoother Leave-In Conditioner

As a part of the Color Care collection, this spray conditioner gives you amazingly smooth hair. I don’t often blow dry my hair at home, because it’s a pain. If you are like me, use this before you do blow dry because it will ensure that you get sexy smooth hair just like in the salon.

ANGEL-MASQUE

Kevin Murphy Angel Masque

When it’s finally time to pamper your hair, get this deep conditioner. Again, it is very natural with lotus flower, quinoa and bamboo extracts to strengthen your coloured hair. I liked it because it was no fuss and it left my hair feeling soft and strong.

Schwarzkopf BC Bonacure Repair Rescue

Schwarzkopf Moisture Kick Collection
I’m pretty sure I’ve tried seven or eight repairing hair collections in the past few months. Some are ok, some are definitely not. But I haven’t been noticing a huge difference in my hair. Until I started using Schwarzkopf’s BC Bonacure Repair Rescue line. I don’t have a huge amount of damage to my hair but this line fixes everything that’s wrong with it.

I don’t really notice anything special while I’m actually washing my hair and I don’t notice a difference at all between the Repair Rescue Conditioner and the Repair Rescue Treatment but when I’m styling my hair I notice it’s a lot stronger, less tangled and much easier to manage. This line is for damaged hair but it doesn’t put any claims to being moisturizing or volumizing which left me with no expectations whatsoever.

The star of the line for me is the Beauty Balm. Usually I have to mix a bunch of styling products to detangle, get rid of frizz and generally get it managable. Especially when the humidity makes it crazy in the summer. I use the Beauty Balm on it’s own and it covers all the bases and gives me way more volume than I’ve ever gotten from another product, including ones that claim to give your hair added volume, but never actually do.

This is one hair line I’ll definitely be replacing when I run out.
